Grains other than organic rye

Hi all,
I'm having trouble finding Organic Rye.
I can find Rye, but not organic Rye. This is in Sydney Australia.
However, I can find Organic Wheat, Organic Oats, etc.
So can I use these other Organic grains for Teks that based on Organic Rye?

I`ve used wheat berry.... the hard grain and the mycelia loved it.. steep first for about 45 minutes then sterilize that way it won`t become mush ..bird seed kicks ass too a mix with a lot of the yellow "millet" in it like finch or parakeet seed .... good luck

HI,
If you like I know http://www.MycoSupply.com will send you organic rye. Take a look http://www.mycosupply.com/substrates/index.html
If you like, you can go to your local grocery or plant nursery and use wild birdseed. Both birdseed and rye work great I think. You use and prepare both of them in just about the same way:)
Hope that helps

Organic long grain brown rice will work. Wild birdseed works, but the ingredients are more variable than birdseed for pets. So the results w/ it may vary.

I'm sure that Non-Organic rye would work fine. I bought a 50 pound bag of organic rye for only $20. I could get you one but shipping would kill you.

Dear Numba9,
What's the ratio of wheat berries to water?
Also, why wheat berries, are you refering to whole wheat grains?

Dear celsius,
I recall reading in one of the teks not to use non-organic rye, because they treat it with fungiside, and this bad news for mushrooms.
have you successfully grown mushrooms with non-organic rye?
