normally i'm not for love songs, because they are cheesy most of the time... but there are a few i like... incubus has some great love songs, for instance... but the greatest one of all IMO is "Crush" by Dave Matthews Band... so i thought i'd share...
Crazy how it feels tonight Crazy how you make it all alright love Crush me with the things you do And I do for you anything too Sitting smoking feeling high And in this moment it feels so right
Lovely lady I am at your feet God I want you so badly And I wonder this Could tomorrow be So wondrous as you there sleeping Let's go drive 'till morning comes And watch the sunrise and fill our souls up Drink some wine 'till we get drunk
It's crazy I'm thinking Just knowing that the world is round And here I'm dancing on the ground Am I right side up or upside down And is this real or am I dreaming
Lovely lady Let me drink you please Won't spill a drop, no, I promise you Lying under this spell you cast on me Each moment The more I love you Crush me Come on, oh yeah
It's crazy I'm thinking Just knowing that the world is round And here I'm dancing on the ground Am I right side up or upside down Is this real or am I dreaming
Lovely lady I will treat you sweetly Adore you I mean you crush me And it's times like these When my faith I feel And I know how I love you Come on, Come on Baby
It's crazy I'm thinking just as long as you're around And here I'll be dancing on the ground Am I right side up or upside down To each other we'll be facing My love By love We'll beat back the pain we've found You know I mean to tell you all the things I've been thinking deep inside My friend Each moment the more I love you
Crush me Come on Baby So much you have given love That I would give you back again and again Oh my love Meaning I'll hold you But please please let me always

I can't like it. I hate DMB too damn much.

I hate his whole schtick. I hate the cadence of his voice, that mumbling that's supposed to sound beautiful. I hate most of his fan following, a sea of Abercombie and Fitch wearing prep school buttmunches. I can't stand how everyone thinks his violinist is SOOOO AMAZING just because he jumps all over the place - I've seen better.
I just really hate the Dave Matthews Band.

P.S. DMB kids are the kinda kids that killed the Phish scene.

I really loved the 'Crash' album....loved it...and so I went out and bought all this other DMB stuff cuz I figured I would like it too, but I just never got into it.
Every single song on Crash is amazing tho. Like, the kind of amazing where a song can bring you back in time to a place, an atmosphere, a feeling... Oh, to be 17 years old forever.

Is that one of his earliest albums? I really liked the album that had "Ants Marching" on it, I'll admit that. Way back when. But I still wouldn't listen to it now.
A lot of my dislike for DMB is based on all the hubbub around him, and then added to that I simply don't like the tunes.

i can see where you come from, man... i'm just really glad we don't have that kind of people over here... in germany barely anyone knows DMB, and the people i know that listen to them are musicians... i dunno about the violinist and i really don't care... the drummer is amazing, though... and after seeing the vh1 storytellers show with dave matthews i really found him very cool... besides he has quite a few good lyrics... his mumbling and stuff is up to debate... i wouldnt consider it beautiful but it fits with the music... i must be honest, though... the "before these crowded streets" is the only album i own of him and i think that will stay that way... doesn't change the fact, that i really like it... especially that song...

No problem man I respect you loving the song.
But the best love song of all time is The Weather by Built to Spill.
after four months of hanging out every day I told my best friend Lucy I was absolutely insanely in love with her. It was intense. During the NYC blackout, trapped in her apartment. We cried a lot. And then we laid in bed just holding each other, and she put headphones on me and played that song for me. And 2 and a half years later it's still the anthem of our love..

the best love song is "overs" by simon and garfunkel (cause i'm melancholic like that! )
dmb.. eh, his band were definitely adept and very tight musicians, but i never really listened to anything beyond what the radio used to play in the 90s.

There's one song on Crash...I will try and find it for you guys. It's got a considerably long instrumental break in the middle and it sounds like a crystal water fountain. It starts out like trickling water, slighly unimpressive, and it starts to grow and then by the end of the intrumental break the little trickling water fountain is grown into this ginormous, fantastic display of splashing water, technicolor lights and you feel like your soul is going to explode.
Now that's good music.

That is such a cool story!
For Valentines day you should break out the old writing skills and give her the story of that wonderful blacked out day.

She once told me not to listen, Find the answers, intuition, Follow noone, trust your instincts, Face the world, find out it stinks.
Don't come crying, Don't come crying, Don't come cry to me. I'm not your friend, I'm just your lover, Don't put your faith, Don't put your faith in me, You cut me up and rob me blind, But now I'm fine.
She told me about the places I could never find, She told me how to walk while by her side, Don't be fooled by teardrops, They're worth a thousand lies, When I saw them running down her face, I believed in her.
Stranded, Ah Ah, Stranded, Ah Ah.
Hit me in the gut, Like a brick through a window, Left me in the gutter like a wet news rag, Sitting alone, thinking out the times we never had, Cause you were my life.
She told me if and whether, We'd spend the night together, She made so many promises, I believed in her
