Yes and no

The manufacturer doesn't recommend autoclaving them becuase the stopper forms and airtight seal.  If there's any moisture in the tube while sterilizing, the moisture turns to steam, the steam gets very hot and POW, the tube may very well break.

The stopper and glass tube can be autoclaved, just not together.

For use where I don't want the vacuum inside one,I pull the stopper out to release the vacuum, place a XXX number of tubes & stoppers in either a glass jar with a filtered lid (allows for steam entry), or an unsealed autoclave bag (allows for steam entry).

Then, PC for 20 minutes at 15 psi.
Then, while HOT screw lid on or seal the autoclave bag with a TIGHT rubber band. When removed hot, any moisture or condensation dissipates in a few seconds, resulting in DRY stoppers & tubes.

Then, either under the flow/hood or in a glove box - open the jar or bag & reinsert the stoppers.


For instance, several DRY prints (taken on glass), scraped up, then placed inside a vacutainer (with a small sterile glass funnel).
