Grew a Bag of Mycelia!

Bought some spores in suspension from sporeworks and 4 of the new sterile bags/grain growing medium... Got myself 3 bags of mold from it. You can see the image of my mold here: What did I do wrong? I got both items on the same day in the mail, injected two bags with 3 cc's and a third with 4 ccs, carefully taped over the tiny puncture and kept in proper temperature. Not a mushroom in sight, just a lot of white mold. Tappuck

Did it smell like mushrooms? That looks the way it should. If you opened it you might have fucked yourself.

No, it pretty much had no smell at all. I've still got two more bags of this stuff still in a controlled temperature environment. It has been 20 days so far... shouldn't there be something more than that by now? Thanks for any advice. It's really appreciated. Tappuck

have you ever grown mushrooms before? are you sure thats mold and not mycilium? your bags have to colonate with mycilium first then the mushrooms form. this white mold you speak of is most likely mycilium which is what you want, the mushrooms then grow from this. you shouldnt have much chance to contaminate a bag like that unless you really fucked up or got a contaminated syringe. I think your fine, youl have mushrooms soon. if you really know the cycle of a mushroom then I have been telling you something you already know.

It looks right for 20 days. With my fastest effort, I didn't harvest mushrooms until day 26. Looks like you jumped the gun by a week or so. What did you expect the bag to look like? I am not sure but the bright white dots in the picture could even be primorida (the first signs of mushrooms)

I swear to god this is the single most helpful forum I've ever come across. You guys are great. I can't believe all the really excellent advice and I really appreciate it. Okay, so it looks like I am on the right track. I've got 2 more bags of beautiful white stuff I thought was mold (YES, it should be obvious that this is the first time I've grown them! In fact, the first time I ever ate some was just this past November - pretty late at 34 years old). So, what's next? I took them out of the dark box and now they are in the light. Good or bad? I took the opened bag and closed it with some clothespins and I'll see if it can be saved. Again, thanks so much for your helpful tips! Tappuck

No, if you wrap the bag with aluminun foil. PC it, let cool down and tear the foil apart. I've allready done it, it worked for me. Peace, MAIA

Dude you should go back to your first post and edit the title of this thread to "Grew A Bag Of Mycelia". You wouldn't want it to (at first glance) reflect badly on the fine folks at sporeworks. Who, by the way, replied to your post within an hour. Now that's customer service!
