Probably much easier and possibly cheaper just to order some filter patch bags from somewhere like sporeworks.

- Mushroompeople has NARA bags for $55-65/100
- We just twist the tops above the filter like a long tail, double it over and put rubber band on tight - seems to do fine?
- Innoculate by puncture and tape one spot - but when we are using grain master we open the tops in the clean box (primitive box too -) dump in the spawn and close it back and they really do pretty well -
- 5lbs - ? - Rye grain is about the most we've put in a bag so far? Got to try the Verm/BRF thing in them, but have been afraid that they would contam on opening to fruit unless the bag was in the fruit tank??? haven't done that yet but gonna soon -
Too easy for a tech - soak, load, sterilize, innoc., throw up on the closet shelf in a box for a week and check - bags are really cool even if they are plastic and cost...

Homemade filter/patch autoclave bags.......... is like thinking about  trying to use an old  5 gallon plastic bucket as a condom.

It ain't gonna work great good, she will not like it, the end result will not be fun, & you will not get your rocks off.

Use "google" & search UNICORN BAG.

Wholesale by the "K"only. They have the BEST 5 liter filter/patch spawn bags on the market -- (most vendors buy there, quad or more the price & vend retail). I think the order # is 8519-1CB PP.

1000 bags will cost you around $175, plus shipping. Then, you can make 9 tons of spawn about as easy as shooting clowns at a circus (J/K).

6T

My local winery sells 4 L wine bags..... you know the type you buy boxed wine in! you can get them empty and fill them up with homemade wine.. thick plastic. almost rubber like.

I wonder what they would do???

better find out the material they are made of....polypropylene *IS* steam sterilizable, as are most HDPE plastics.... but most other plastics are not....but when you look at the economics of it, the mycobag option is cheaper in the long run.....
