Spawn bags always get too much water after pressure cooking

whenever ive tried spawn bags ive always had a problem with there being a shit ton of water on the sides and what not. most people dont seem to have this problem. am i doing something wrong? Please, someone help me out. i really want to be able to use bags as opposed to jars.

ps-ill be making my own with oven bags, plastic bottle tops, and polyfil

Yeah.  Soak your grain...don't boil it.  Drain it off fairly well, toss in a few cups or two of vermiculite, mix that up in a bowl well so it's evenly distributed.  Then load your bags up and PC.  I was having the same problem, especially as I was inoculating with LC.  Worked okay for me.  Only problem was if I didn't mix the verm into the grain enough and the verm would collect in the corners of the bag and wouldn't colonize (obviously).  So just spawn the colonized chunk and pull off the vermy fringe bits. :thumbup:

soaking grain for 12-24 hours, then draining, then pc'ing is what i've switched to doing

yeah, ive thought of adding dry verm before pressure cooking, this really worked for you?

Sure.  Just balances out the moisture--the myc grows right over it, better than it does the verm in a casing layer mix.  :wink:

it helps to prevent overwetting the grains causing bacterial contams

I know.  I did use the gypsum.  :wink:  I just could never get the fucking grain dry enough for the gypsum to inhibit clumping.  So I went to verm and now I AM NOT A MOIST VAGINA.  :cheer:
