None. Take some acid and figure it out for yourself.

Hydrochloric, acetic, sulfuric? Do the answers to life's mysteries lie in chemicals if not in dogma?

Think for yourself, question authority.

What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

Whether or not we consciously accept the 'givens' (an Existentialist term) of our life, we have roots. I rejected the Reform Judaism I was born into at an early age, flunking myself out of Hebrew school in the 6th grade, not becoming a Bar Mitzvah (Son of the Commandments), embarrassing my father who founded our temple and remaining agnostic until my first psychedelic experiences. Those experiences were behind my change from pre-medical studies to philosophy.

OK, that covers age 11 to 21. After college, the Neoplatonism, Yoga, Tibetan Buddhism and Christian mystics influenced me to receive Christian Baptism in a Catholic Church and then enter a Methodist seminary for two years. I looked into Catholic monasticism during that time, but monks whom I met were gay and I loved women.

I attended Catholic Mass through grad school, on and off, through part of my first marriage to a Catholic, but all the while I identified myself as a Jewish Christian. The synthesis was unavoidable - I was an apostate Jew and a heretical [psychedelic gnostic] Christian. Except on Christmas/Easter, I did not attend church with my Catholic ex-wife, in fact public worship and membership in a church was too establishment for me. I was never a true Catholic, or a Methodist, but the world would always see me as a Jew interestingly enough. Now, I've prayed in the Names of the Christian Trinity since the end of college when I read the New Testament and was exploring Christianity, and until more or less recently, when I've attempted to reformulate the notion of Patriarchal Godhead into Father-Son-Mother through Gnostic considerations, I still pray in the Names of the Trinity.

Now just after I began to use psychedelics at age 19, I had first been attracted to Ceremonial Magick, and in connection had begun to read Kabbalah. When Magick gave way to Eastern thought, especially Yoga, Kabbalah and Western Hermetic philosophy was abandoned. Although I've continued to practice Hatha Yoga (with its attending philosophy) since 1973, I have come to abandon any connection to Catholicism (even some hostility towards its history), I was never a Methodist (but like its founder John Wesley, I have read deeply in Greek Patristic theology [The Writings of the Philokalia are the most important to me and bridged the way between Indian Yoga and Christian contemplation]).

The past couple of years I have accumulated and read over 40 books on Kabbalah from different perspectives. Just before he died, I told my father that I was studying Kabbalism deeply - trying to communicate to him that I had come full circle (though changed by my journey) and was embracing [mystical] Judaism. My first 'religious experience' occurred when I was about 4 or 5 at a High Holy Day service in a rented hall. My father had not finished building a temple yet (I actually helped him put steel jacketed cable through holes when I was 4), and I asked my dad what 'that red thing' was. He assumed that I meant a glass of red wine in the Cantor's hand (I thought "Come on Dad, not that!") when I was referring to the ruby red cylindrical electric lamp above the Ark of the Covenant which housed the Torah scrolls. I pointed and he said "Oh, that's the Eternal Light." Wow! I didn't even know at that age what Eternal implied, and yet the moment stands out like it just happened - like something inside of me from a previous life had profound knowledge of what that meant.

Today, above a votive table with Jewish, Christian and Gnostic symbols on it, behind which is a large framed poster of an iconic Greek Jesus, there hangs a ruby red Eternal Light, with a small Six-pointed Star that my mother gave me hanging against the glass.

I do not know if this brief biography has helped to answer your question. It is not going to be like going to a store and selecting a religion. It has to be rooted in the Truth of your existence. Who are you really? Not, who would you like to be? That is just residual adolescence. When people ask me 'How come you have a Jewish surname, but you sometimes wear a cross around your neck?,' I say: "I wish to become a Jew after the example of Jesus of Nazareth." My take on Scriptures is archived here and is another story, but I have written too much already. I hope it makes sense.

Peace

No one religion is the right religion. People tend to think that theirs is the right one.

Is it the right one? - For them, it may be the right one. But, just like my opinions on music - "Just because I don?t like something, doesn?t mean it sucks", I think "Just because I don?t believe in that religion, doesn?t mean its wrong"

Most religions tend to carry the same common themes and messages. The destination is often the same - but the path to get there is different. Everyone in this world has their own paths.

For some, it may be Christianity, for others it may be Buddhism, for others - it may be something they have found within, believe in strongly, and follow.

However, you need to look for the truth in the religion - and not at the corruption. For many religions and belief systems - have they have been created by man, are not immune to the corruption of man, and have been influenced by greed, power. While the politics now involved may make them ugly beasts at times, the underlying message and truth is still there in many of them.

It is my belief all religions come from a divine source, but being that all religions are based on faith, God tells only his messengers his truths. Man as we all know is constantly fucking up so its no surprise that all religions are wrong in some way. Man has consistently twisted the word of God for his own petty gains. I look to all religions for the truths of life, but I take part in NO organized religion, because ALL of them are blasphemous in the eyes of God. ALL churches in this day are obsessed with money, and built around power structures, and this boys and girls is taught in most religions as the root of all the worlds evils. The pope lives in a fucking castle tell me how that is a christian life?

All that said it doesnt matter what you believe, but only that you do believe. God does not judge a man by his Church, no he judges by a mans deeds, and wether or not there is an afterlife of some sort living a good life is always a good thing. peace

Treat others as you treat yourself, treat yourself as you would treat your new born child.....this is the best way. All religions have this basic premise..To love each other ............Love others as you would like to be loved .etc eTC ETC

But most of all believe in yourself and the best things in others.

i second the notion of Sun worship. No one can beat the scrutiny of waves like that, plus that kind of deep of penetration usually has to be paid for anyways; Lemme break it down:

at the very least the sun is a natural aphrodisiac that can make you smoother and more generous then Chef from SP....It is no easy task to sing about something like "Big Salty Balls" Chef is a big ol' giver of all kinds of things. Confidence, Music, Warmth, An unbeatable Archaic Library, Wisdom, A sense of Truth, Laughing matters. . . Worship The Sun! is free and every person on Earth knows it's Rays furthermore church is 24/7

God might be aliens for all the info on him we have, but everyone here is missing teh point God is EVERYTHING, not just the sun or a planet or whatever, and worshiping something isnt the important part, because 99% of those who do worship are not going to heaven(oh ye hippocrittes as Jesus would say). Jesus himself said despite what the crazy ass "christians" today say, that even among the asain churches(which are largely pagan and have many gods which according most "christians" automaticly will put you in hell) some would find their way to his heaven simply because they led good lives adn were truly sorry in their hearts for mistakes they may have made. the worship part thats something to make you feel better about yourself really, something to help you feel connected to your god.

no religion will help you if you want others to think for you.

you are your mind. why put limits on your perception with beliefs?

First establish base. Then send out your religious emmissionaries. Make allies and partners, make business and barters.. Once you are wealthy and have the world at your means, start getting others on the train of life.. the train of love. Help them up..
Or if your evil start terrorists groups to stop people from doing the above. AND THAT's what you should believe cause I said it.
