Romanism teaches that justification is by infused righteousness, grace is given, man synergizes with it, and this mixing results in justification. Reformation Protestantism (not modern Protestantism) teaches that justification is a free gift and is not given because man does something, but despite what a man does, he is justified. It teaches that Christ died to save the elect, and in time they are converted, not because they are worthy, but only because God has freely chosen them out of the mass of fallen men.
