Bacteria. Reduce water a bit and soak the rye for 12 hours before pressure cooking it for a good hour.

The "GOO", it smells worst than shit.
Hey josh, i'm also working with rye, i'll post some pics in this thread to see what happens if the substrate gets too dry, shit happens when you leave your jars near a eat source.

My rye jars look way too dry for whatever reason. And I got some dark blue green stuff on it. I am way mad at it now! Er! I am thinking that next time I should cook the rice normal styel then put it in the jars and cook it again for another hour. Or maybe bake the vermiculate separate. yeep I ai don't know how to work this stuff.

This are pan. cyans. on rye, the berries got dry after being exposed two days to a heat source, the berries got rapidlly infested with green, conclusion, dry berries=invitation to contams.
