Generally, belligerent radicalism is always a malignant thing, no matter what cause it beleives in.

Even if such a group were to be campaigning for a cure for cancer, they would still likely do more harm than good.

I posted it in OTD a couple years ago, since Chornobyl is in the Ukraine just
north of Kyiv, it stands to reason that she spoke UkrainRussian... I was planning
to take a trip through eastern europe and into china, Chornobyl being one of the
stops, it offers a lot of chance to photograph some of history, looking through
the photos on that site suggests that peoples entire lives were left behind.
I've learned a little russian, both spoken and written, a neighbor before I
moved out here taught me

I'm just glad that someone else took an interest in the site

I was so touched by the site that I wrote a glowing e-mail to the author.

Sadly, the only ukranian russian I learned were cusswords. I knew a person who immigrated here from Kiev when he was in 3rd or 4th grade.

He had offered to teach me the cyrillic alphabet, but we never wound up having the time to go through with that lesson.

I may have to take a few russian classes during my college career. It's a hard language, but I'd love to speak it.

I dont thing a visitor thats read the text and looked at the pictures hasnt
been touched, looking through it just makes you feel alone, you feel a little
of what the people in that city must have felt when they had to leave, you see
bits of their lives and discover they really were not much different at all

russin isnt that difficult to learn, when you're trying to learn it all at once
it's overwhelming, you can find pronunciation guides for cyrillic alphabets on
the net, start by learning to read what you can, it will make it much easier.

I'll do that this weekend once I have my homework out of the way.

Thanks for the tip.

oh, and pris... her website has a few video clips that appear to be from a documentary.

Judging by the familiar voice of the narrator, I would estimate that it was a PBS program.

Any clue what the name of it is?

The other funny thing is that governments allready did actual tests where they crashed large aircraft into the concrete walls used in power plants, and determined that plane is not capable of doing functional damage to a nuclear plant reactor, none whatsoever

Yes but this doesnt equal shit compared to the amount of chaos a melt down would cause. Like a malfunction with the heavy water processing units at Chernobyl cesium 137 radiation seeped out for a 500 mile radius resulting in cancer and birth defects nationwide.

we've just been discussing a website that explained chernobyl fairly well. Did you look at it?

And, for your future reference, a significant portion of the problem was that the reactor was of subpar design, with many corners having been cut at the expense of very important design elements. Russia is notorious for fucking up like that. Chernobyl, K-19... hell even the diesel submarine Scorpion appeared to have some corners that were cut when I was taking the tour of it's insides.
