i used to have a pit for about 9 years. she is out in oregon with some friends of mine at the moment. i miss her much but shes better off out there. shes got a huge beach to run around on and i get to see her often enough. i usualy get out there for a decent period about 2wice a year. and shes an old girl now. shes about 10 or 11 and did alot runin around in her life so shes kinda spent. aint got it like she used to. and im always headin out on road trips and goin hikin and stuff. stella was my right hand dog. but shes since seems like it strains her to do any taxing treks and such. so its good that shes just chilaxin out in oregon. anyhoo, im lookin to get me a dog now that im out in ny. im supirsed ive been this long without getin one but for a minute i guess iw as just missin stella alot. anyhooooo, long story short, just lookin for some advice. stella was advertised as a pit/rottweiler mix, but i think she also had some lab in there too. such an awesome loyal, obedient bad ass dog. she had issues with other dogs. she was quite vicious at first. i would have to warm her up real slow on the end of her leash before i could get her face to face with a dog and calm her down. eventualy, she would chill and before u knew it she didnt even care the dog was there and jsut went about her business. eventualy befriending the dog and sometimes playing. anyhoo, that could of been because i didnt have her around dogs enough consistently when she was growin up? i mean, i brought her to the beach all the time as a puppy, and she played with alot of dogs i though enough of the time but i dont konw...one day at the park, she just up and tore into a lil poodle like a rag doll. i was like holy shit! luckily it wasnt that bad and the owners were realy cool. after that i never had her run free unless we were in some real secluded places. anyhoo, i know sometimes with any breed the dog could have a bit of a certain disposition. maybe with stella it was because i never had her fixed? so basicaly, what im wondering is yalls opinions , especialy pit owners and such of what kind of dog i should get. i want to get a blue nose. i dont know what kind tho. ive heard of all diferent types and bloodlines. like some are the realy cock diesel low to the ground i think they call em bully dogs. like razorsedge and coyboys or something. i dont know too much i been readin a lil bit here and there. and then theres just a regular APBT blue nose. ive read different opinions on the disposition and what not about then both. some said the bully ones are realy aggressive and hard to train. others said, no diferent from a regular APBT, etc. just wonderin if anyone knows about all that. or if blue noses in general have certain issues? i read somewhere about dry skin. also, ive usualy owned female dogs. just wondering everyones preference on what sex of dog you usualy opt for. any info greatly appreciated

I love pitbulls they can be very loyal and smart dogs as long as you train them correctly and take care of them. As far as what bloodline its all just a matter of personal oppinion.. Just look them up on the web and find which one fits you best.

Pitbulls are awesome man. My girlfriend's family has one and at first everyone thought it'd be such a mean dog (her brother brought it home). Nowadays he's known as smiles. This dog will climb onto your lap wherever you are sitting and just plop down. He's chills in the bed with my girl and me while we watch tv too. Such a cool dog, I love him.

Why don't you get a dog that is less dangerous? I am really tired of all these alternative types that want to help the "underdog" and show that pitbulls have been pigeonholed by getting the sweetest one they can find and raising it right.
Then they or their friend gets bit in the face one day and reality strikes.

Owners that get bit, are bit because the have raised the dog wrong. Many people can't take care of there lives nevermind raising a dog. Bad dogs come in all breeds, its never the dogs fault, or the breed, Its the owner!!

My buddy has one of these pits. He spent like 2000 I can get puppies in like 20 for 1500. I went with him to pick it up from the airport. My buddy is pit crazy. He has like 7 pits. His basement is like a kennel. They are not breed to fight they are show dogs.

Please be a good owner, and show that monster enough love as a puppy and he will act like a teddy bear. They often show non-socialized agressiveness to other animals, so be careful what you bring him around, and try to raise him with other animals especially in the first 6 mo of life. Spend 8 hours a week training him his whole first year.

Don't breed or buy while homeless animals die. Pitbulls are particularly prone to being picked up by the local authorities and quickly euthanized. Thousands of dogs are needlessly put to sleep only because they are a certain breed. I understand pit breeders love of the dog, I too share that love. But until the animal shelters are empty and the dogs we already have are taken care of, I can't see a reason to bring more misunderstood pits into this world. I am a proud owner of a rescued pit bull and she is the sweetest dog and would never ever hurt a human. Seriously one of the greatest dogs I've known. Dog aggressive at times, but my best friend in the world. Sorry for the rant y'all. But in the south we have a steady supply of awesome pits and rotties and trouble breeds come into our shelters. And a steady supply fills up the cages, so while the chihuahua is adopted quickly, that pit is just taking up space. Sad story... I love my red-nosed pit!!!
