Greenpeace

I'm thinking of quitting my job and working for greenpeace instead. my job would be easier + better hours + less responsibility + better pay.

Do they pay decent? I almost joined a little faction of guys that worked with Greenpeace.... they were a bit more militant in their actions, but I agreed with their position. Never considered it as a job though... could be cool.

Fun Fact: Greenpeace has been known to use boats in their protests at sea that are powered by 2-stroke engines, the most water-polluting kind of outboard motor I know of.

yea, but that's seafaring on a budget. Plus, who knows when a sealiner will run over the boat?

There are a number of respectable and intelligent non-profit ecological organizations out there, but I can never remember their names :stoned:

Well, in international waters, if your impeding the port schedual of a multi million dollar ship carrying millions of dollars worth of stuff, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they ran over the boat. Who's going to prosecute them?

It'd go:
"hey captain, look at the protesters... I don't think they want us to pull in to Yokosuka harbor because we have radioactive cargo"
"ah, fuck 'em... this ship costs $150,000 a day to run. You think I'm paying the overage?"
"uh, no sir.... but they're getting awful close..."
" Engine bell full ahead....RAMMING SPEED!"

like I was saying... there are smaller groups that work a bit more "directly" in the line of fire on the eco-front. You kinda have to go through the larger organizations to find the more active constituants, but that's where the action is.

There's also quite a few more that are more publicly oriented, but they are more educators than activists, IMO.
