I found out 2 days ago my ex-fiance got married to one of my good friends. Now i find out one of the reasons they got married is cause they each get regular $$$$ from the gov cause hes in the military???

I dont know weather i should feel better cause she didnt marry him completely for love or kinda dumbfounded cause man, really, Fraud?!?!?

i guess its a little of both.

God damn life is fucked up. :mad2:

Life is a little fucked up, but mostly it's just people that are fucked up.

My condolences to you... I have no frame of reference to how that must suck.

But at least she doesn't hate you or something, she's just greedy. And excessively greedy women are something that should be avoided at all costs, because they will send you to an early grave. Silver lining is you didn't wind up married to a woman who thought of you as a source of cash for her to spend.

I find it helps to vent if I go to a batting cage and take out some agression on the baseballs. It's served me decently in the past.

On the downside, when you swing a bat angrily for a while... you tend to come home with battered, bruised, chafed palms.

That's fucking pitiful on her part man. What a joke. I'm sorry about the situation.

About the hole, you could crawl into a bottle for a couple of nights to ease the tension? Fuck anybody that says alcohol doesnt help to ease pain.

yeah i tried the alcohol fix, i was still drunk when i woke up the day after i found out. It was still there when i was sober though.

The really frustrating thing is i havent been able to write a song about it yet.

Marriage may be antequated, but anyone who doesn't get married is punking themselves. You get tax breaks for being married, for both people, as well as other benefits you can claim yourself that you are unable to do when not married.

I'd get married just for the bennys

i used to live in a place with 5 military installations...

i knew of at least 5 people (guys and girls) that married someone in the military solely for the extra money and benefits...

i really don't think it's an uncommon thing and wouldn't take it too personally... a person in the military gets like an extra $800/mo+ for being married, i think... and the spouse gets insurance and the ability to shop on base where things are cheaper.

the people i knew that did it had to be really careful about seeing other people, though.. as it's not acceptable to be caught cheating on your spous or to be found out that as a couple you aren't really together... a person can be tossed out of the military on moral grounds.

i see no problem with scamming the gov't, personally...

Very true. I had friends when I was in the Navy that got married to a female friend and lived as roommates just for the housing allowances and being able to live in your own place and not in barracks. Only did it for the benefits and they all got divorced days after being discharged. Pretty common practice for military folks.  :rolleyes:
