Growing in grass? Or just in general? If it is growing in grass, several Panneolus sp. If it is just overall, psilocybe pelliculosa, silvatica, and another one I can't think of now...answer your question?

Also Psilocybe strictipes and Psilocybe subfimetaria are often confused for Ps. semilanceata.

they are pretty distinct tho, once you have seen 1 semilanceata it becomes obvious which is which. Look at a bunch of pictures, thats the best way to figure semi's out, also the seperable gelatinous pellicle helps....subfirmentaria look alot like semi's but they have a very obviouse ring around the stalk hence the fimentaria part of the name aka blue ringers.

G,day. A friend in Warringah (Far North Sydney ,where the bush fires are) told me aswell that people were picking mushrooms that had thin white stems, small bell shaped, brown cap with a nipple on the top. I thought he was bull shitting but then he told me abpout the blueing reaction, so I came online and asked him where they found them, apparently in the blue mountains(west of Syd) there are several sheep and steer farms laying in the valleys, and after heavy rain his friend(supposed to be informed about shrooms) was driving his Bike on his uncles farm, where he found the caps sticking out of the thick grass. After we shared trip and shrooming stories we decided to go hunting early easter after the rains hit, at his friends farm. So if I do find them Ill be happy to send info and pics. Good luck this oncomming easter :) Two months to go for us..

cant wait until autumn - Reading stamet's book, liberty caps seem a bit hard to indentify as they dont or rarely stain blue due to high psilocybin levels and nearly no psilocin levels (correct me if im wrong). I first tried these in NZ when i was 18 and they were fucking intense

If you post a quality picture in this forum the ps. semilanceata will be id'd for you very quickly believe you me. Another characteristic of the semilaceata (common to other psilo's as well) is the durable stem (stipe). You can pick a semilanceata just by gentle grabing it under the cap and pulling upward, you will uproot just about the perfect amout of stub or whatever. You can wrap fresh species around your finger and the stem wont break. Do it doug, its all about the mushrooms pickins.
