to all rookies out there....... which i am one as well. try using a case instead of cakes.... i'm getting better results. you see what happens is this: the cakes lose thier water and dry out. a case keeps them moist...... anyways this is the whole point is. if you guys are getting successful cakes but having problems growing. try this extraction method. ?SUPPLIES? -2 fully colonized cakes -2 large jugs of 100% (no preservetives, important) cran/apple juice (juicy juice is the best) -a blender -tee-shirt or coffee filter --take the cakes and clean the case off. put it in a blender and grind it up (i use 1 pint instead of a 1/2 pint). get some of the juice and mix in about 5 cups of the juice and blendit until all the mycelium is broken apart. pour the mixture ina large pan. add 3 more cups of juice and let it soak. a minimum of 1 hour, but no more that 15. finally strain the liquid with the shirt or coffee filter to get the verm and other shit out. i let mine soak for 3 hours and tripped pretty good.... 2.5. it isn't too bad tasting. i can't wait to let it soak for 15 hours. i suggest to soak for at least 3 hours. mine was really nice. you guys don't really need shrooms to trip, it is better....... but if you can't get anything to grow this is an idea. let me know how it works out for ya! --yoshi--

Ive read that recipe 5 or so times, so it wouldnt say its rediculous. Ive usually read to let them soak for 12 to 24 hours though

I've read lots of cake extraction posts. . .and although I've never done it, I've nothing against it. After reading your post though, I have a question. You say: -2 large jugs of 100% (no preservetives, important) cran/apple juice (juicy juice is the best) Why do you say it's important that the extraction liquid have no preservatives? Are you thinking along the lines of "make sure the substrate has no fungicides?" I'm thinking that you could extract the alkaloids in radioactive waste material if you didn't mind drinking it. Wouldn't hurt the magic. . . . . .. What's your reason?
-------------------- ". . . and I'm searchin' for the latest thing, a break in this routine--I'm talkin' some new kicks; ones like you ain't never seen. . . . "

I have been trying the BRF deal since OCT 22 this year & rye grain since Nov 22- ALL I get outta rye jars is black mold & while my BRF jars colonize well- I put them in fruiting chamber & they do NOTHING... I fan them, I spray H2O mist etc... WTF. HOW is it my friends where I moved from have harvests that could choke a donkey & ALL I can do is grow bioweapons>??!~!!

This thread has been closed.
Reason: The fun part about eating cakes is seeing your shit glitter from the vermiculite. Of course it also scrapes your ass raw, since you're eating sharp rocks.
