figure out the weight to pressure and put some coins on top of the regulator. HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED.

There is not much need to go to 20psi... My 1972 21 qt presto goes to 20 and umm no difference between contam or anything when I bother cooking to 20 psi...

Everyone says 15 psi blah blah blah in teks and stuff anyhow so you may have to formulate your own times on some things... Remember all this is time consuming...

I don't know if 20 psi would reduce long PCing times of grain or not....

At my super high altitude, I do 15 psi 90 mins everytime...

I would not recommend 'aftermarket' parts for any pressure cooker...

Does the high altitude really affect the pressure cooker? The reason water boils at a lower temperature is because of the lower atmospheric pressure correct? So a pressure cooker at 15 psi should be the same temp at any elevation?
And not really after market, still made by the same company; but I understand what you are saying.

I have heard posts going both ways... Better safe than sorry IMO.

I am super high... Like the high altitude directions on a box muffins says
'High Altitude Directions (3000-6000ft)'

I live at around twice that... You could like put a ski lift at my house if you cut down some trees.

I am worried sometimes about 20psi possibly overcooking grains..  And do not understand time adjustment etc with cooking at higher pressure...

I just stick with what works, if someone posts some good info on 20PSI cooking instructions for grains, etc I would be more open to trying them... I am one of those members of this community that lets others expirement and I tend to try it when they have favorable results... However I did make a LC with maple syrup and am awaiting results :smile:

It's like 15 psi - 20 min for LC - 10 min for syringe - 90 min grains.

Conditions are changing at 20psi so PCing time more than likely need to be adjusted as well..

If you want to be a 20PSI pioneer I'm all for it... Maybe I can have 10 mins off my grain cooking time...

I would not "modify" the PC in anyway...

I have not read about the need for 20psi....not to save time...

But it you need that extra umph...maybe look at an autoclave

The AAPC is a great thing :thumbup:

The blow out plug serves as a secondary safety feature.

My 921 has one, besides a toggle valve.

Both my 941 sterilizers have two toggle valves each & no blow out plug.

Stick to regular times.

But, with a toggle valve, you can up your PC times by hours. If you want. As they don't spew out steam, like a weighted one does.

They only release, if it begins to OVER PRESSURE.
