coconut bark

I want to use coconut bark for my casing layer.Thats what I find at the petshop.On the left its the coconut bark raw and on the right its grinded.Anyone tried that?




Here is a close up of the grinded stuff.

Dromni you maybe wrong... At first I thought it was coir.

Coco Coir labelling says shredded coconut husk... So they are probably not the same.

Thanks for you help.Yea maybe its the wrong stuff.Its really similar to coco coir because it retain water and its expandable.I will try it on a small casing.

I usually say it like "CHOIR" but maybe wrong... The lady at the orchid shop says it that way too, I'd hope she has a clue she sells 11 kilo bricks of the shiat :smile: 

My good ole webster 7th says: 'koi(e)r" they (e) is upside down... I won't bother to put on the accents...  But I think we're close.  But they pronounce for choir is "kwi(e)r" upsidedown e again.

Oh, I didn't think that husk and bark would mean different things. If you noticed I said that the fluffy stuff should work. I mean, it looks just like the bed-a-beast stuff I get if it were expanded and dried. But maybe I'm wrong.

I didn't mean for you to think that I said that using the chips would be okay. That stuff definitely won't work!

When you find coco coir it will be in a brick, really hard like. Good luck. Sorry for muddling up the discussion.
