Moisture on cakes?HELP!!!!
    #492804 - 12/16/01 11:45 AM (22 years, 11 months ago)

My friend has a 20 gal aquarium w/ perilite on the bottom and 8 cakes on lids w/ inner res tek w/ drinking straws. The sides of the aquarium is showing lots of humidity. She is starting to show dew drops on the cakes and on one there was dark droplets like tea colored. She took that one out and cleaned it.I didnt know if it was possible to have to much humidity. When are you suppose to start filling the straws?I started filling the straws when i dint see any growth for a couple of days. She got prob 5 grams out of the 8 cakes and then they stalled and started showing water droplets on them. She doesnt think any droplets are coming off the top lid to the aquarium and hitting the cakes. She had this prob w/ the last batch when she first stared using perilite. She had huge sucsess w/ useing the pf tek w/ no perilite misting and mist sheild. She is going to go back to that set up if she doesnt find a solution to the perilite or straw tek. Thanks for your answers in advance.

water appearing on your cakes seems to insinuate that there is too much humidity.. perhaps adjust the amount of misting, or removing some perlite from the terrarium will help..
