Any Liberty cap finds ?

Access to preferred habitat [pasture lands] is very limited & difficult due to the amount of development& sprawl of suburbs in Oregon. Have tried grasslands in parks [elk & wild animal scat noted] but no P.Semilanceata was found. Environs of the Columbia & Willamette rivers. The literature says pastureland and grasslands near forest clearings & golf courses. Experienced pickers have reported that you need to go where farm animals have been recently and look in the grass [not on manure]. Maybe I need to get closer to the coast. Any feedback?

hey man what you gotta do is go find an area where grass seed farming
is common... then focus on field that first: appear to be rye grass
or seem to have mixed types..., and if you enter a field and with in ten minutes of walking and looking {I mean looking hard :like bent down and scanning meticulously ] and you don't find any mushrooms at all, [active or not] then leave directly and try the next field you that you deem a potential.If within a few minutes you are finding lbm's:
[little brown mushrooms] then stay awhile and really look hard ! get down in the grass and be aggressive. Remember if its wet and rainy they'll be dark shades of brown and or olive green but if its been dry and or sunny for aday or two than many will have turned a tannish
off white or a shade that is best described as popcorn white . if yo ever find them in that condition you'll be sure to have an extremely successful hunt... and its not at all uncommon. just keep checking fields and odds are [it may take way more fields than it seems it should]you'll eventually find them unless you really don't get it and could not I D one if it mugged you in broad daylight.tip; if its cold and rainy...wear rain gear and dress for the worst conditions possible, you won't last an hour if your soaked and freezing not to mention
frustrated and discouraged... that all a part of the experience sometimes you gota work for the thing your into or  would like to do successfully... just keep looking,try new places ...the trick is covering the most ground you possibly can or convincing someone with
actual experience to show you an established field . A proven picking ground. grass seed field or cow pasture. cow pastures in my experienc are way harder to find them in for numerous reasons ..just take my word for it; the grass seed fields are where there at! big time ...good louck :thumbup:

If you have rainfall problems check out sloping and low lying areas. Are there any sheep farms (lib producers Baaaa none)? Although I did once spend an interesting pick with long-haired long-horned cattle in a field in West Sussex (one of the few remaining species that probably still have a direct genetic conection to the mighty European "Aurox")!

I found my best libs in the place where no cattle animals ever been. It was a dropout wet area of a field where farmers had been chopping grass a year or more ago, but not this year. The place is something cross between field and bog, having tussocks with very tall grass. Some huge (up to 15 cm long)libs were among this high grass, but the most beautiful and multi-mushroom patches were in small bright green short grass tussocks among those tall ones.
