yeah, this has been an issue for quite some time what with international laws against the extradition of captives to third nations. This has been debated, but i still believe it is a violation of international law.

it seems to me that a lot of things dealing with torture, secret prisons, et cetera has less to do with the gathering of information and more with fear and intimidation.

The US has been notorious for trumping international law, so the the State Department really doesn't give a fuck.

Likewise, the United Nations is only there to reaffirm United States power, and when they disagree, to hell with them.

i thought this was public knowledge.. i mean maybe not the actual locations, but the fact we have top secret prisons should not have been a shock to anyone.

MSM leaks national security secrets. And it's a good thing.

Scooter Libby tries to correct the record, doesn't out a CIA person who is no longer covert anyway. And it's a bad thing???

I was just watching CNN, and they said they would not release the locations, because it could be a threat to national security.

The US' secret prisons are mentioned occasionally on CNN and Fox News in very hushed tones. It's no surprise, but they do have the right to conceal it to the public, seeing as...well, it is US tax payer funded and all.

are you saying CNN knows specific locations and arent being told or that they are saying the gov't doesnt give specific locations due to "national security". i really doubt cnn knows if its so sensitive.

They said they knew, but were not going to tell b/c they were not sure how legitimate their sources were. That's pretty much their exact words.

From what I got from the interview, the Human Rights Watch have been tracking the tail numbers on CIA aircrafts carrying high-profile detainees, so they are aware of the cities in Eastern Europe where the prisons are.

i wonder if this is a ploy, esp. considering the timing of major coverage after ive known about it for a long fucking time. that and everything i ever read had non-governmental sources being the main sources, which are not bound to this shit. pretty sure it a bullshit ploy, whoever they start accusing.
