What is your goal here, Swami?

Eight time now, folks!

Come on Phred. Stop playing thick. You warn people for REAL reasons. How does it bode well for any forum where a person is warned for NO reason? How can that be acceptable in any way?

What does it tell the other members, other than mod whimsy is sufficient reason for banning? At least codify it.

I broke no rule in S&M and you see that as acceptable explanation for banning because I am 'me'? Who is next?

Is being a friend of mine now sufficient reason?

What about an acquaintance?

How about anyone I ever sent a PM to?

Perhaps anyone of my ethnic background or anyone over 40?

Where is the line drawn?

We also know you were told to come here to kill discussion by failing repeatedly to even remotely address the issue. Way to go, big guy.

In this way the staff can be continuously surprised why their is dissent and drama and why more and more members are learning to despise them.

It seesm no one on staff has the ****s to come clean and talk to 'the people' about what is really going on. Keep trembling in the shadows like frightened children who can only snipe from a dark balcony.

You're asking the wrong person. I'm not here to decide whether a warning issued in a forum I don't moderate was warranted or not. That's an issue for the moderators of that forum (and ultimately the Administrators) to decide.

Where have I said (or even implied) it is an acceptable explanation? All I did was point out that posting a quote from a spiritual dude is acceptable in the Philosophy forum.

My purpose in contributing to this thread was not to take sides on whether or not the warning was a fair one -- that's not my decision to make. My purpose was to remind people that just because a subject they wish to discuss is of a spiritual nature, they are not restricted to posting it in the SM&P forum and nowhere else. They can also post it in the Philosophy forum. Hell, they can also post it in The Pub or in OTD for that matter.

Incorrect. No one told me to come here and do anything.

Look, it seems some people are getting all bent out of shape because they believe (incorrectly as it turns out) that they cannot post certain ideas or quotes or viewpoints or whatever pertaining to spirituality at The Shroomery. I took it upon myself to point out that this is not the case. The Philosophy forum was created to provide a venue for such ideas, quotes, and viewpoints. I invite you again to post your Vernon quote in the Philosophy forum and see what kind of discussion arises from it. I'm not saying that I personally will make any contribution, mind.

I'm not here to decide whether a warning issued in a forum I don't moderate was warranted or not.

Are your typing fingers handcuffed by management? Is there a gag rule? You see the horribly egregious and bunny-frightening thread in it's entirety. How many suicides will result from reading that? How much $$$ in lost spore sales due to members running for cover? How many years in therapy will an S&Mer be forced to undergo after exposure?

Will you be forced to step down if you offer real insight? You know the gig. Come on Phred. I have to believe there is one man among you besides the defrocked Cervantes.

It is NOT a belief. I have been perma-banned for NOTHING. How is that incorrect? Why should only Swami be limited to what forums he can post in? What is the rationale behind that?

Frankly, I look at how Swami is treated, and EXPECT EVERYBODY TO BE TREATED THE SAME WAY.

It is a new forum. I don't know how it works. I look at HOW PEOPLE GET BANNED... it is the only way to learn the rules... which seem bass-ackwards to me.

If Swami can be banmned over NOTHING... the same could happen to us all. Right?

What is the Community SUPPOSED to think?

Oh geez! :shocked: I hope no one here thinks it is their job to tell us what we are suppose to think. I thought this all started over how not to be a sheep.

A wolf can make up his or her own mind and opinions for what to think.

Why can't the individuals of the community be allowed to think for themselves? Why do we need someone to tell us what we are suppose to think about this place? It speaks for itself quite well.

If one waits for others to tell them what we they are suppose to think, then they would leave themselves open and vulnerable to manipulation, they would be sheep. Swami wouldn't want that because he cares that we do not become manipulated sheep. He advised us through the help of Vern Howard to eliminate the sheep within. :cool:

But for those who can't yet think for themselves, why don't you tell them what they are suppose to think about all of this Cerv. :wink:

You are wrong, but you are looking in the right direction.

It DOES MATTER what the public thinks!

Without a BIG COMMUNITY BASE, this place would MAKE NO MONEY from its LACK OF ADVERTISERS. Get it?

I promise, public opinion matters a GREAT DEAL to The Staff, and to the VENDORS who SUPPORT THIS COMMUNITY.

look, even if you banned 5, 10, 20, or 200 users
this community would replace those users in a
matter of days.

the uprising would be dramatic and perhaps the vendors
would see some emails regarding the issue, but the fact
is that:

1. veterans do not use vendors to the same extent that
noobs do. we have our own spore stocks, trade amongst
ourselves and have more convenient sources for auxilliary
goods.

2. there will always be a steady stream of kids looking
to grow mushrooms to replenish the lost members and feed
the vendors. these users do not have existing stock to
trade with nor the clout in the community to find willing
participants.

ad sales are sold based on traffic.

ban some, ban many...you're still not going to make much
of a dent in site traffic.

don't overestimate your voice here.
