Iraqi Constitution

Iraq is going to vote on their constitution. If it passes it is another landmark day in American history. I hope it will. When it passes, I expect people on here to tell me many reasons why it is bad for America.

I am excited about this. I think that if this constitution passes it is the last major hurdle and we have won this war. The next elections in December will be a breeze, because every demographic will be trying to get out the vote to increase representation.

If this Constitution passes, one year from now we will have less troops in Iraq than we have today. If this constitution passes, we have met every single deadline.

Remember when we transfered power? People said we couldn't do it, and that Iraq was in no shape to govern itself. Not only did we do it, we beat the deadline.

Remember when we had elections? Iraq was in no shape to have elections. But the people voted, and they gave themselves a freely elected democratic government.

You would have thought the free Iraqis would have kicked the hated Americans out, but they actually asked us to stay. They love us more than we love ourselves.

The Constitutional deadline? They met it. People said that it couldn't be done, but you have to wonder if these people ever get anything right.

And now the vote. Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds are going to ratify this constitution. And nobody thought any of this could be possible. Nobody except George Walker Bush, who will go down in American history as a transformative and bold President who did what no man believed can be done.

When that constitution is ratified, we have won this war.

Some still pine for the glory days of Sadaam. Others lament that taking out a brutal dictator and liberating a people is like rounding up and slaughtering hundreds of thousands of Jews in Nazi Germany. I find this forum refreshing. Keep standing on the wrong side of history.

Most of these deaths were during the intial stages of the invasion plus the debacle in Fallujah.

Hard to believe that a cluster bomb designed specifically to kill, dropped indiscriminately in a crowded urban area can have massive collateral damage?

Between 15,000 and 20,000 French civilians were killed during D day.

But just to play your silly game:

Hitler and his Nazi army killed roughly 6 million people.

Hussein allegedly killed a few thousand 20 years ago.


Hitler was actively taking over Europe in a bloody military fashion.

Hussein was not currently invading any country.
