My incubator is a big storage bin. I have a 2liter bottle with a fish tank heater inside of the bottle. Of course the bottle is filled with water.
On the side of the bottle is a hole where i have a tube that leads out throught the top of the incubator into another storage container filled with water. (I did this so when the 2 liter bottles water starts to evaporate, there will be a constant level of water exchange).
Here is the problem. The bottle has sprung a leak and the incubator is filling with water. Im positive that the water temp. that the jars are sitting in is lower than the temp. around the jars. MY jars are now sitting in this water. Would this cause a problem, or should I just leave it alone and fix it when the jars colinize?
Would disturbing the jars to much effect their colinization?

I would fix your water leak problem. Your water could encourage contamination. if you are using jars they should be pretty safe to move around. If you are concerned, I would cover the tops with sterile foil while your moving them.

I disagree, fix it later, there is no real problem to the jars while the water level stays bellow the jars lid. Just take care of the water temp, those heaters can be tricky.
Add aprox. 7% (of the total water volume) of bleach to the water if you're worried about contams as the water only serves as a heat source.

BTW, this is a diagram of my incubator, water as a direct heat medium for jars. Hope i'm giving you ideas ;)

This gives me an idea. It would be nice if the shroomery could have a page where people could add terrariums and incubators diagrams and pics, Mods at hunting forum are making a mycological map of diferent species, contam forum is making requests for contams pics, cult. forum could gather some info(pics diagrams) from its members regarding this issues, it would be easier for newbies (and everybody else) to understand construction procedures. My 2 cents.
