ID these? (PICS)
    #4768751 -

Oops, posted this in the hunting forum so I'm moving it here...

it's been raining a bit around here and i've been wondering if anything has been popping up around the neighborhood... i found these in a grassy area just on the fringe of the woods... it was growing under a few trees, but in grass. i know they aren't actives, but i'm pretty curious to know what they are.

they are about 3-5" long, all growin together in a clump. stem is brown and hollow (does not bruise), gills are pale brown, cap is orange-brown, fading to light brown on the outer area. i am currently printing and do not know what color yet... will update that info in a few hours... here are some pics to help with the ID

Cluster

Gills

Single Specimen

thanks in advance for any help

No, I would not confirm that.

I don't know much about honey mushrooms, but I'm pretty sure that's NOT what those are.

And don't get too hungry, those could be harmful.

The white spores and dark, erect hairs on the caps (especially near the center) all look like Honey Mushrooms. There appears to be no ring, but there is a species of ringless Honey Mushroom. You also need to confirm that they are growing from wood. For mature specimens, as those appear to be, they seem awfully small. When I find Honey Mushrooms the buttons are as big as those, and with much thicker stems. Expanded specimens often get to be 4 inches across.

If you decide to eat any, be very cautious. Eat a piece the size of a fingernail the first evening and wait at least overnight to see if you'll become ill. Be sure you cook it thoroughly (undercooked Honey Mushrooms are toxic). Be aware that Honey Mushrooms cause more poisonings than any other species of edible mushroom.

Happy mushrooming!
