verm is not perlite. perlite it not verm. verm is what most people use in their BRF substrate... never tried perlite... wouldn't try perlite... verm is the way to go

verm is the stuff you use in substrates..... perlite is not. perlite is volcanic ash.. vermiculite is somethin else.

DrJoseph - Vermiculite is also volcanic ash. So is geolite.

Though verm and perlite are totally different, if they were the same thing... They would just call it permiculite and sell it in one bag.

Verm holds the water, like a sponge. Perlite doesnt hold it, it just wicks it
