Home Depot : Brand names for Perlite or Vermiculite ?

Was wondering if anyone knew of a brand name for vermiculite that I should look out for when going to Home Depot?

also :: any suggestions for Perlite also? Is this sold at Home Depot?

Home Depot sells both, and you'll want to look for Hoffman brand, yet any brand will really suffice.

just ask the attendant at the front counter. its usually found in the gardening section and is sold under the product name Pursell's

I think that's a brand name.

I'm just wondering because I have no idea what they look like [texture/etc. etc.] except from what I see in pictures.......

just making sure I don't grab one with wrong additives or something in them, that would hurt the process. :smile:

I bought hoffmans and it is really small vermiculate, you need to add a little bit more water than usual to prevent your jars from drying out and stopping colonization.

It's made by Pursells and I purchased that bag at Lowes.
Here's a photo that shows the size of the particles. The measuring tape is in inches.

the kind i get is called supersoil...i think....It works ok and its a little cheaper than the others..check it out at home depot
