Gotta a great start and a question

Howdy!

Got some spores of PSYLOCYBE FANATICUS and have "birthed" three cakes so far with 6 more in the closet. They are growing like mad. Every day brings me an inch closer to payday.

This being my first attempt, I was wondering if the top of the cakes are supposed to turn blue as the shrooms mature?

Otherwise, they look great, but the sudden bluing of the mold has me concerned. Should it?

If you're worried about contams you should take a big whiff...Do they smell funky? (funky as bad funky) If they don't smell funky - are your cakes dry? If so you may want to hydrate them a bit. My cakes have bruised before when they've started drying out.

Bluing is natural, and I see it in every stage of the process.

Shake up a jar. Get some blue color.
Too little water. More blue.
Drop a cake (translation: kick the terarium). Yup, more blue.
Pick a shroomie. Turns red. I mean blue. Well, depends if you eat it first.


Basically, my point is that you don't have to worry about blue. I find that watering the cakes to no end will help the cakes repair themselves, and the color will fade dramatically, and more shroomies will grow. As a side note, before I figured this out, I think my mushrooms were more potent, but much more scarce.
