hehe gnome man, i was exactly like you with my first jars "this on looks easy enough, i'll just scrape the spores in"
BUZZZT
Trust me man, it does not work, i wasted a hole sporeprint trying to get that tec to work :)
If you are gonna ignore this and do it anyway (which is probably a yes :P) dont scrape them in, use a syringe and try to use a cooker cuz that boiling shit did nothing :(
www.growmushrooms.org would be the best way to go, lots of pretty pictures and easy instructions ;)
goodluck

Blue Meanies = Panaeolus Cyanescens
Gnome King, you won't be able to grow meanies using the beginner teks which call for a grain substrate. They require a dung or straw substrate and must be cased. Most people start out by growing Cubensis on grain/verm cakes because they're less prone to contamination. I would recommend starting out with cubes first, but if you have access to panaeolus spores as well, you may as well give it a shot... but if you are working with filthy, bacteria-ridden cowshit or straw, you must be extremely thorough about sterility.
As for the Shroom Wizard tek being a 100% failure... not true!
It HAS worked for some, but there are better, faster, potentially less disappointing methods out there. The PF/MMGG teks, if you follow them closely, are almost failure proof.
Also, aluminum foil works great for taking prints, be sure to sterilise it in your oven beforehand.
Nice to see a fellow Aussie shroomer, by the way. :)
Peace, love & pointy things,

Whenever you do something for the first time... you should follow the instructions to the letter! then after youve completed it succesfully can you go through and slowly remove all the crap that doesnt suit you. Ive tried that tek, it worked but it took me a a while trying to seperate the mycellium from the contams, dunking in peroxide and starting again.
Support the FSR! or the smilie gets it!
