Ok after reading all about this DREADED cobweb mold , im starting to get VERRY worried. As my pet shroom goblin was waiting for his jars to finish he noticed what appeared to be the mycelum reaching through the dry verm layer to the top , now with the knowlege i obtained from the hawks eye he is in DEEP fear this could be cob web mold. It seems VERRY hard to be able to tell the difference at this stage still being in there jars. some looks like it came from beneath the dry verm layer others looks sparaticly scatered across/around/throughout the dry verm layer. All the jars are 100% colonized and have been in the jars for about 35 days now. My first question obviously is do you think this could be cobweb mold ? at quick glance its seems verry light on the very top of the dry layer and around the rim but at lookiing at it as it get closer in depth towards the cake it seems thicker , also some aeras of the dry verm layer seem to be growing thicker. another question , what if my shroom goblin (he he just thought of that from a different p.o.v. goblin shrooms as in gobleing shrooms)( ok sorry bout that back to the verry seriousness of this topic) went ahead as normal birthing procedures as followed by MMGG , in scraping off the dry verm layer would this remove the problem and prevent it from coming back ? what could he to do save his cakes? he is really starting to go mad with his giant fork and is now stabbing me repeditively in a total rage, *swift kick to the head* DOWN DAMINT! Is there any hope for him ? please post ANYTHING that you think could possibly help him out . 1 minute b4 reading detailed descripts about this contam he thought he just had strong and healthy mycelum eager to colonize, now hes fearing for the worst . Any help is deeply appriciated and thx for your time. Peace

My guess is that you're worried about mycelia colonizing the dry verm layer.

Cobweb mold is gray and looks very similar to mycilium. One way to tell is that it doesnt hold anything together well at all. A bag of colonized rye is hard to break apart, but if its infected with cobweb it will be much easier to break apart. Cobweb mold can be smelled sometimes. But the mushroom smell ussually over powers it. The mycilium can take over the cobweb but sometimes doesnt. It doesnt prevent mushrooms from growing but reduces sizes and yeilds signigicantly. Thats about what i know

>>>> puscle no not at al , what im worried about is possibly cob web colonising the dry verm layer.
After a few posts at other boards and further reasearsh , ive learned that if my shroom goblin were to birth the cakes as normal and then mist with h2o2 that would completely rid the cake of cob web , what are your guy's opinion on this ?
any experience in this procedure or runing into this problem?
is so please add, another question i have is what effect will h2o2 have on the cakes mycelum and proliminary first flush and allready formed pins ?
will it decrease flush size?
damage or harm mycelum?
damage pins?
inhibit max possibitly of a larger first flush?
plz post any info that could help this recient problem . thank you verry much for your time. peace
