Developing Film.

Lets say that you had a disposable camera you want to get it developed, the only thing is it has pics of mushrooms, bud, and some other ::cough:: activities. Do you think the people at the developing place will look at the pics? If so do you think they will say anything? or do any thing? call me parinoid but i would like to know. thanks good bye.

go to a really busy one hour shop. good luck. Remember the story of the guy out here in CA planning to shoot up the college, but a photo girl saw his pictures of guns and bombs and called the cops.

nah, you won't get caught... just do it at your local drugstore in the 'one hour section'.  when the machine goes on the pictures all fall out into a pile... so as long as the first and last pictures aren't incriminating it's all good cause the people never stand by the machine and wait for each picture to fall out (it takes a few seconds for each to be printed so the whole roll takes quite a while and they have other shit to do - plus people'd get pissed if they saw the store peeps watchin everyone's picture)
and even if the top picture was somethin illegal i doubt they'd care.  i've developed pix of my herb, shrooms, some paraphanalia, my nekkid girl :wink:

get a polaroid or a digital is what i say!

i've heard a lot of people have their incriminating film developed by one of the big mail-order developing places. i guess the assumption is that they handle way too many rolls to examine them. i personally would be too paranoid to have smoke and fungus pics developed.

what about a bogus name and info when you drop off the film at the one-hour place. it's not like they check your id or anything.

I recently droped off some film of me and my friends doing 'things'. I went to a busy supermarket, gave a fake name and fake adress. I sent my friend to pick them up, only because I didn't have time. My friend who works went to pick them up works at the same chain of supernarkets and he says that one of his co-workers in the film department has seen some weird and very often illegal pictures going through there and never reports them. I would use a digital camra if I could afford it but disposable is all i can realy aford because im bound to lose/break it if I carried it around all the time.

or you could get some black and white film and learn to develope your own film. its really not that hard and is pretty fun. Of course I'm a graphic design/photo major so I have access to a dark room, which you may not have.

The rule at photo labs: It's up to the developer at the printing machine to use his or her personal judgment wheter or not to print a certain picture, unless the contents of the pics are obviously illegal. So, for example, if you have a picture of a child in the tub, the developer can say yes or no. If you have the child in a sexual situation in the picture, the cops will be called.

For mushrooms, no devloper will have the time to think about whether they're oysters, enokis, or psilocybes. No sweat. As for buds, as long as you aren't in the pics, it should be no problem.

Otherwise, use a fake name on the envelope when you drop the film off. Leave the phone number blank, or put in a fake.

I took a picture of a sign that read "photography prohibited" on an air force base once. Got the pics developed at a one-hour photo place in a grocery store, and mysteriously, that pic was not printed out, nor was the negative given to me. They didn't ask me anything or say anything unusual when I picked them up, but I guess someone there looked thru my pics...

I got my pictures back, hassel free.
I do want to warn people that eventhough the 3" photos are cheap but the picture quality blows my ass, don't be cheap and go with 4" or above, and be careful while winding camra or you'll get shots of your friends dashboard in his car, I have 2.

well, i'd develop them myself but i suppose you probably can't so we'll have to come up with another solution.

option 1) find a photography student at you local university who will develop them for weed, they all smoke, i gaurentee it.

option 2) find a one hour place and ask to only have your negatives developed, sit there while you wait, and don't give 'em the chance to look at the negatives. a scanned negative has higher resolution at big sizes (like 24x35 inches) from a 35mm neg than a 5x7 print will.

option 3) don't give a shit, go to walmart, and give them a fake name etc. and have a friend take the ticket and pick the pics up for you. don't tell your friend that they are yours, say they are your mother's or something, have fun.

I'm a photography student (I smoke pot, your theory stands true) and I have indication that a normal store checks the details of you pictures. After all, you could be taking a picture of an active mushroom in the wild. Even then, how many Wal*Mart employees know what a Psychedelic mushroom looks like (excuse the spelling, a bit drunk here)?

Does anyone have factual information on what a business is allowed to check for?

I don't smoke pot anymore, but when i was a photo student I did....heh

Anyway, I know a FOAF(for real) who got pics of weed developed at Rite Aid. He was arrested when he went to pic up his pics, but the case was thrown out.
