E-Chode Banned?!?!?

to me, learyfan's post reeked of disrespect for a subculture
now, when members of this subculture responded with anger,
they were banned
:wtf:
i'm willing to bet money that if i posted a thread in the pub
about how jam bands sucked because i can't find acid at the concerts,
i would be banned, the thread locked, &tc.
in my mind, learyfan went out of his way to insult this paticular subculture, all because he couldn't find drugs at a party.
he should've expected to catch heat from members of the subculture,
on a drug message board.
banning those who naysay his comments is ignoring the problem.
the problem is learyfan-
show some friggin respect for subcultures that aren't yours!
an apology would be nice, since i imagine there will be no unbanning of e-chode before this 24 hour ban is up.
and excuses that mods should be treated w/ respect aren't applicable, IMO, b/c learyfan disrespected this subculture by his post.
the ban was out of order and uncalled for.
learyfan should practice what he preaches,
that is,
respect for all forms of the psychedelic subculture.

I'd just like to point out that everything e-chode said was on topic. I honestly cannot see how he "hijacked" the thread as stated. He was talking about raves, ecstacy, and blowjobs which were all on topic seeing as all of these things do go on at raves. Furthermore nothing was of offensive material. There are rave threads all of the time in the pub, as well as ecstacy related threads, and just a day or two ago there was a blowjob thread, all of which nobody found offensive. From the looks of it he was posting on topic and being non offensive. How is his ban justifiable?

learyfan didn't like certain members posting in his thread so he banned them. Very poor decision, there was no basis for the ban and if it was to avoid drama then that is another bad decision because it has already cause way more drama then if he just got over it and didn't take it so god damn personally.

imo learyfan is unfit to be a moderator and should be lynched.

I personally know a cracked out raver who perfourmed felatio on someone for ecstacy.

If anyone disrupted the thread in question, it was learyfan and his heavyhandedness. A little teasing is a small price to pay for admitting to such stupid behaviour as walking around a club asking for drugs. Its not only disrespectful of a culture that in my opinion is trying to distance itself from rampant drug use, but reckless in regards to his own personal health and the legal standing of the promoters of these events. (thanks rave act) If the shroomery wants to tout itself as a place for comprehensive and reliable information regarding drugs, learyfan and his lack of discretion is hardly the way to represent this.

Its also noteworthy that I wasn't even warned, yet I made several posts in the same vein as e chode and H_T. I'm not asking to be banned or anything, but how is that fair? I would think impartiality would be a valued trait amongst moderators, no?

I suggest learyfan be demodded and banned.

this type of rampant abuse should not be tolerated,
it's disrespectful to a subculture, and to this message board.

As I understand it E-Chode was 'spamming' the 'notify moderator' button and that was a big part of the reason for the ban.

I will look into the ban and see if it was justified.

He got banned for that months ago. I was with him the whole time; he didn't press the notify mod button once.

The ban reason says: Being nasty in the pub.

I thought that after you hit the notify moderator button once in a certain thread that it cannot be hit again? I've hit the notify moderator button before trying to alert about an underage poster here and it gave me a message saying that somebody had already notified a mod.

i think spamming this button is understandable, although probably not justified.
if someone insulted a subculture that was a direct and important part of my life, i would be angry and probably do whatever was in my power to bring it to the attention of the powers that be
it's unfortunate that one of the powers that be was the one doing the insulting, however.
i think the end-all-be-all to this question is:
did learyfan do the banning?
if so, then i rest my case.
if not, then plz accept my apologies.
BUT...
IMO, the thread stepped over the bounds of what was acceptable.
Learyfan implied that drugs should be readily available at parties, and went so far as to post an artist (roni size)
as i have said before, if i was pissed that i couldn't find drugs at a widespread panic show and posted as much, it could easily be found in violation of the "no sources" rule, and i might be banned for violation of rules.
shouldn't mods be held to the same rules the rest of us are?

There was no pressing of any notify mod buttons, I assure you.

Curiously, HELLA_TIGHT is also banned under the same circumstances; was he also "spamming" the "notify mod" button?

Also, HELLA_TIGHT was suspiciously only banned from the pub. E-chode was first banned only from the pub, and then banned from the whole site.

What is going on here?
