remember this much my friends in the USA

when shit hits the fan and you need help, governments will claim they are helpless, but when it's time attack for profit, they have unlimited budget. Only 10.5 billion in aid?? why not 11 billion? why not 168 billion that bush himself got when the war started?

and regarding money....remember this much....every country is in debt. no one is in the profit margin, so how real is the economy?

I only hope and pray that people will wake up and unite with each other, only then will true help be established.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

i agree with u man, but false as the economy may be, its what western culture completely relies on, orbits around etc.

We just need a better-funded military. If the military had immediately been given all power and an $11 billion budget to deal with the situation, it would've been a lot less devastating.

But I don't expect our bleeding heart, socialist, seal-clubbing neighbors to fully understand the real world.

I'd say about 100,000 or so extra active-duty types would have been
useful to have around.

The amount of aid isn't the issue here; the timeliness of it is. The blame for this can be placed from the locality all the way up to FEMA.

What are you talking about a better military?
We already have the best military in the world.
And they are all on the other side of the world.
Military kills people, it doesn't provide hurricane relief usually.

The military is a multi-purpose institution; they can be most valuable in both stopping the violent looters and in transporting the victims out of Katrina's devastated areas. After that it's up to the state in which the victims are located to help them, but for the immediate response the military should've been called in with supplies and plenty of ammo.

The government is crap. When I know someone needs help I don't ask anyone's permission to help that individual. That is my first instinct.

As far as an economy. I bet one of my government officials spent enough in the last month on frills ,to have helped dozens of families. It is taken and spent as the government sees fit.

I don't know whose fault it was that they weren't there immediately, but whoever's fault it was should be fired. Right after the hurricane stopped the military should've been sent in, not 3 or 4 days later.
