Casing: Peat Moss or Coco Coir ?

Assume under optimal factors, eg. correct pH, short&long-term buffering, is Peat Moss, Coco Coir, or mix a better casing? (in term of more pinning, more flushes, and healthier shrooms) Has anyone experimented both and compared?
thx in adv.

I have always seen better results with peat.

Coir is more like adding a second layer of substrate, as it has lots of nutrition that mycelium likes to colonize and feed off of. Peat is better suited as a casing material. Don't forget the lime. RR

I personally love coir, but as far as I knew, I thought coir had no nutrients to it. I figured if It did, it would definitely have to be PCed before using it. Otherwise; contam problems would happen. I've never pced it and never had contam problems with it.
I could be wrong, but I just always thought there were no nutes to coir.

coco coir does contain some nutes and endospores, but works grate in casing if you nuke it. 30/30/30/10 peat/coir/verm/calcium reason for using coir; it changes color to let you know if the casing needs water.

yea... it gets pretty hot out here.. so the retaining of moisture would be beneficial for this project... what about the nutes and all that? or should i use a mix of 30/30/30/10 like the dean said?

Outdoor projects don't need casing. plant under a shrub that gets regular water. cover w/ a thin layer of local soil for camouflage.

if you want your money's worth out of it, get Peat moss. You can get a Giant 20 Gallon bag for $5 at lowes. dont get it in the little liters bags like the verm or coco coir. i use it to grow Venus Fly Traps and Pitcher Plants. its suppose to be high and acidic wich is why other post say to use oyster shell to neutralize it.
