Coco Coir Q.

What is the best way to sterilize coco coir? Also If I mix my perlite with peroxide that should be enough to kill any nasties right? Thanks for the help!

i think throwing the coir in a oven bag and baking it at 200 F for a couple hours should do the trick. Also i've noticed that adding lime to the coir keeps contams away (i can even touch the stuff with not so clean hands and move it around and no contams at all after 10 days)

As for the perlite, adding h2o2 is definitely a good idea and it will keep contams away.

I'm really unsure of the ratio of lime to caseing, how much can i use without it burning the mycelium?

ralphster said 1 cup lime to 4 cups coir. but this seems to be a bit much (turns the coir a grey color) i would try half that and disolve it in the water you hydrate the coir with.
