alrite....so i bought this shit called "nature bed"....its made of 100% natural coco fiber.....so i geuss this is the right shit so i went ahead and did a 60/40 casing tek
i was wondering how prone coco coir is to contaminates? i micorwaved it but as i left it too cool, and as i was adding it to the casing it was exposed to open air for quite a bit....i continually sprayed it with a h202 solution.....tell me i did everything right please!

Well my friend used straight coco coir without doing anything to it excepst adding water. He did not steralize in any fashion and the casing is now on its second flush without any contams. He never even uses h2o2. So IMO you are fine but that was just his case it doesnt mean that it couldnt contam but I never heard of coco coir getting contamed so your chances are good.

The FAQ here says to use COCO COIR... not COCO FIBER.
I'm confused. Looks like we need some professionals to intervine.

If it's a compressed block of coco fibers for animal bedding, it is coco coir, most bricks don't say coco coir anywhere on them but are easy to identify as they come as a brick that expand to about 8 times there volume, any brand will do as long as it's a compressed brick of coco husks/fibers or they say 100% Organic, they are usually found in the reptile section of your local pet store and are used for animal bedding.

I've never sterilzed a casing of coir, and only have had one contam, but that was after 3 flushes.
