its a new show in the discovery channel that takes a look into different tribes around the world.. Two episodes mention him taking hallucinogens for rituals. Great show.. its on tuesdays

m00nshine is currently vacationing in Maui. Rumor has it he got rolled by drunken natives and is currently prostituting himself in order to pay for airfare back to the mainland but he's having trouble juggling a hairon addiction. He won't be back for a long while.

I believe the shows on tuesdays at 10 pm est time. Yeah i definitly agree that its an awesome show. Although i ve only seen one full episode and bits of couple others. He stays with these tribes who practive cannibalism and gives a whole new perspective towards these people. The norm is that they just eat people for fun and what not but in reality they have their religious reasons. It has something to do with getting rid of the evil soul. It is believed to be the ultimate for of capital punishment. Also the "tribes" dont really seem like tribes. They are more of families of 2 or 3 living in a hut. These groups of families are spread out and he goes around living with different groups but i guess they are all of the same race or tradition. The show is getting its juicy part. The guy is getting initiated in to this tribe so that he could be one of them. Again i dont know the whole thing about hallucinogens because i ve only since 1 full episode but the previews definitly seem like he took something that effed him up. I will defintly watch it this tuesday. Thanks for reminiding me danlennon3.

heres the next episode - on occasion the ritual, which involves consuming an overdose of a powerful hallucinogenic, iboga, has proved fatal. This dramatic episode follows Bruce's build-up to the ceremony, as he goes hunting, collecting forest honey and spends time getting to know his new friends, before they judge the time is right for his "rebirthing" ritual

It's pretty cool.
I liked the episode where that little kid was beating his ass with a stick.. The dude DOES go through some crazy shit! (And sure don't seem the type) I'd be scared shitless going some of the places he does-like where he was walking along and those scary-ass, totally painted little kids all came popping out of the jungle up on him.. (I'd freak!!!)
Ya, this weeks episode is where he does the hardcore Ibogaine trip. Should be interestin'. (commercials make it look cool, at least)

one thing i liked is that discovery didnt try to demonize the experience or the drug. they didnt put warnings and the guy didnt lecture people not to use drugs at the end. they let the experience speak for itself

I also like how they gave the upmost respect to the tribe and their wishes... he never really tells you what he actually saw during his trip. We all know that in any American "reality" show there would be some sort of backstage disscussion... oh wait... they would never really do a drug on AMERICAN REALITY TELEVISION. They turned off the cameras when they were told to also. I instantly fell in love with this show for its anthropological aspects; the tripping part was an added bonus! I am really excited for the box dvd set :tongue:
