Gran substrates

Hi, I just wanted to share my first results with different substrates. I found that 50% millet and 50% rye grain works very well. I comparing it too all rye grain and all millet, and it colonized at least 100% faster. I just added as much water as the grain would hold. It's been 2 weeks and most of the kernals are white. I'm thinking it will be done in another week. Any one elese try this? Have any other good recipies to share that I might have a try at. I heard somthing about birdseed or somthin'. what's the deal with this?

Sounds really good. I think people are worried about mixing rye with other grains or dung because of high contamination risks (not to mention, dung needs pastuerized, grain needs sterilized). Post some pics. That's the best way to show results.

I just bought five pounds of organic rye berries. I wonder what I'll be doing with that. ;)
