sterile casing

Hey people,
when I made the mixture for my casing, I took the leftover after constructing the tray, cleaned out a zip-loc bag with lysol, and put the remaining wet casing mix in it. I am wondering if it is still sterile and usable? There are no signs of contamination as I can see.

Spraying Lysol in the bag was not the best idea. :)

Throw it out now. If you apply casing exposed to chemicals to substrate, you'll destroy the mycelia. At best, you'll have really messed up pins. Pitch the bag. Casing material is cheap enough that next time you should be able to cook up a new batch.

Yep -- no biggie! Just start fresh next time. Not to mention, storing wet casing will contaminate over time. Eventually, it will succumb to something.

Good luck!
