Living Forever

Say someone lives a perfectly healthy lifestyle... eating right, being in perfect physical shape, being in perfect mental state( not being depressed much, little anxieties and having very limited stress),no smoking, living in a clean environment with no pollution. in the past century we have learned so much in all these areas that we can live a pretty healthy lifestyle. in our lifetimes, we will learn MUCH MUCH more about these areas.. picture 30 years down thew road(that's if we don't destroy the planet)
1.how long could we live if we stayed healthy in every aspect
2. other than diet and fitness, how else can we improve our lifespan?
3.why don't most people live a perfectly healthy lifestyle when they have the option?

The maximum human lifespan is around 120 years. Simply remaining healthy throughout your life cannot push it much (if at all) past this age.

We are starting to see that DNA degrades over time, with each successive cell-division, so that by the time we reach old age we simply can't keep those cells dividing.


Now, that being said, I think there is a possibility of physical immortality, given the right amount of technology...but simple healthy living won't do much more than it already has.

I'd have to agree with trendal. Certain parts of our body just quit after time, I remember my eye doctor telling me in my 30-40s that the muscles in my eyes that let me focus automatically would just kinda give up and go to shit- that I'd eventually need glasses even though I have 99% perfect vision now. Some things like that are just inevitable.

On another point, you could do all that exercise and eating right, but if you don't enjoy life then what's the point? You've just trapped yourself in some tofu-prison so you can live longer, seriously who would rather the soy stuff over a good steak or something. The healthier stuff gets, the more bland it becomes. The better something tastes, the quicker it'll kill ya.

Besides, who wants to live forever? I'm not saying I want to get a jump start on the whole dieing thing, but think about how horribly lonely it would be to watch all your friends and family die while your clock just kept on tickin'. No thanks, I'll pass on that.

didnt adam and other various people from the bible live to be like 900? i wonder what the life expecancy will be in 200 more years..

Immortality? Doesn't that mean you do not die?

Logical impossibility. Even the sun and the galaxy will die. Even the universe will fade away until black holes rule the cosmos. So unless a human can burrow into a black hole and eat photons as Hawking radiation kills even the black holes, I think it's 120% improbability of immortality.

you are sick of this world, why? there is so much to see and experience..I havent even visited a lot of the places I want to in my life yet and want to..and I like to learn about different cultures..different kind of people...
I dont want to live forever, but I want to live for a long time..
