Bulk - without a PC. * 1

This is based on having a supply of well weather aged horse manure.



You can make an LC - without a PC, if you are careful.

Simply use Karo or dextrose / light dry malt 3% solution in pint or quart jars.

Boil the mix (rolling boil), then strain though coffee filter, into a pint or quart jar, with a plastic lid.

Rig the LC lid - with two (2) each tubing & polyfil filters.

Reason being, it will allow for gas exchange & easy syringe extraction.



Microwave the LC jar to the boiling point three (3) times.

Once cooled to room temperature, inoculate with a spore syringe & incubate until a cloud of mycelium forms.



Take some well weather aged h/poo (that smells like good garden soil), hydrate some coir, add some chunky Vermiculite & mix it all together.

No special ratio?s. But, about 1/3rd each is about right.

Add water to form a loose airy cake type mix.

The moisture ratio of the mix should be around 70%.

Which you can test by squeezing.

A gentle but firm squeeze should produce a few water droplets.

Prepare some PLASTIC wide mouth mason jar lids, by drilling two (2) opposing ? to 3/8ths holes in the lids.

Have some Tyvek cut to shape as jar filters.

Sanitize however many wide mouth quart jars (dishwasher, dip in boiling water, place several in microwave & nuke until jars are hot).

Add prepared h/poo / Coir / Verm mixture - enough to fill jars three quarters (3/4) full. DO NOT COMPACT THE MIXTURE.

Place Tyvek over the mouths of the jars, screw on lids (not TIGHT) three quarters of a turn loose.

Place jars into the microwave, and nuke until jars (and content) are HOT.

Remove from microwave (use oven mitts), screw lids on tight.

Cover lids with Lysol sprayed double coffee filters, held down with a rubber band.

Place jars in a clean dry place to cool.

Once cooled, syringe inoculate with your LC.

Use around 2.5 ml of inoculate per jar in 5 squirts in ONE HOLE.

One down the center & one in each corner of the jar, then TAPE over that hole.

Incubate jars at around 80F until fully colonized.



YOU NOW HAVE A VOLUME OF COLONIZED MATERIAL TO USE AS SPAWN to bulk h/poo.

Pasteurize whatever amount of h/poo, with 30% Verm added - if you wish.



Allow that mixture to cool to room temperature.

In a CLEAN PLACE, and/or draft free room.

Add h/poo mixture to sanitized opaque trays.

Open spawn jars, use a sharp salad type spoon/fork - to dig up (as fine a particles - as possible).



Remove spawn & mix into the h/poo substrate at a 25% rate to uncolonized h/poo.

Cover tray with tinfoil, poke some needle holes in tinfoil & incubate tray in total darkness close to 80F.

You now have bulk tray(s)colonizing.

Refer to casing & fruiting tek?s to go further.

Colonization times

Quart jars = 9 days to 2 weeks under optimal conditions.

Substrate - same as if spawned with wbs/rye.

I prefer trays of substrate cased. As you get better volume & fruit weight.

But, if I were to "birth" one like a PF style cake.

I would course grind some rye, or WBS, then nuke it twice for 2 minutes dry. Then soak it in sterilized or boiled water overnight, & add that to the mix at about a 10% ratio.

I would also up the h/poo ratio & correspondingly lower the coir ratio by an equal amount. Say 10% more h/poo & 10% less Coir.

No matter which way you go, you need 1/3 chunky Verm ratio, so the mix is a bit airy.


Chunky Verm. Not the sand sized stuff.
