my car was in 4 ft of water...in phx?!?!

ok guys....im really really depressed right now. it was storming like crazy in phx and i was on my way home from school. around 10:15 pm traffic came to a dead stop, and stayed that way for another 30 minutes. finally, dps arrived and started organizing things...and proceeded to tell me to just drive on through...id make it, it wasnt that deep..........well, they were wrong. as i creaped along water started filling in through my doors. i immediately freaked and grabbed the phone to call my mom. lucky me, i drop the phone in the water thats now up to my knees in my car. as im just sitting there, having no idea really what to do, the water just keeps filling up, until im up to my tits in water while sitting in my driver seat. so, i jump outta my car, which was hard to do since the water had extreme pressure on the door, and start pushing the fucker back. so...tonight, by myself, i pushed my new $20,000 car outta 4 ft. of water, and back onto an onramp for the freeway. i then find sum really really nice guy(my hero, seriously!) who allows me to use his phone to call my mom. I get ahold of her, and shes on her way to my dads to get his Dodge Ram and get me the hell outta there, cuz obviously, my motor is flooded and theres no way the cars starting.  so, to end this long story, my dad comes and tows my car back to his shop, and i rode home with my mom.... All in all, Im super happy that im ok, but really i never was in any danger, i mean, i can swim. look, im sad and im still funny! ok, maybe not...I think the worst part of all of this, is that all my school work for this ENTIRE month was in my car, and my midterms in tomorrow. Insurance might cover the car, but its definately not gonna cover the big fat F ima get on this midterm *cries*
So, im planning on being super lonely for the next 2 months...at least while i get this figured out....so all u az shroomerites...hit me up if u feel nice enough to come pick me up to hang out  :wink:

Fair enough. I've got a good buddy who moved down there a little bit ago, I'll give him a call today and see what he thinks of that mess.

Shitty. Car engine isn't damaged in any serious way I imagine? Just flooded really. Not like there are many electronics in car engines.

So the road managed to fill up with 4 feet of water, just from a rainstorm eh?? Wild. But, shitty for sure.

the original poster should file a suit against the DPS for telling him it was cool when it obviously wasn't.

no... the car is pretty much totalled, i mean, its a 05 that needs new interior, entire new stereo and electrical system...and the engine isnt "just flooded" its screwd. theres water in the motor, and from what my dad says, thats no bueno, i mean, the thing might as well been completely under water. Im praying they total it actually, i dont see why they wouldnt. it doesnt run, and it smells like ass.

i already knew this...honestly, the thing has over 7000 miles on it, which ive managed to get in under 2 months...so yah, insurance will total it, even dps said that was considered an accident...and ima buy me a truck, this shit aint happening to me no more! haha

yah once you fry an electrical system in a car, say good bye to it. To fix it you basically have to tear the car down to parts, run all new wires, and then rebuild. By that point you're literally better off buying a new car. Sorry to hear about your problems, be aware, trucks can fall victim to the same problems. My ex's moms jeep tried to go through a "puddle" after a downpour and the same thing happened to her.

Your lucky, it was just the car, let the insurance total it,
some shop will buy it from them, and then it will get fixed
and sent to another state to be sold to a sucker.

"flooded" is a term that means the carburetor is flooded with fuel
and is making a fuel/air mixture that is far too rich to ignite.

Water in the engine/cylinder or ignition system is usually fatal.
