Banez, I sure hope the Impreza is a WRX and not the regular non-turbo one. Otherwise, you will be wasting your money.

no, its just a stock impreza.. and hows it a waste of money? its 173HP and AWD... 2.5liter.. i think its a pretty solid car

not to mention nearly half the price of the WRX

If you wanna be drivin around in class, buy something like an 88 Monte Carlo

If I seen a chick drivin around in one of those, I would fall in love with her no matter what she looked like

how much are the WRX's? i thought they ran around 29k>? the regular impreza is only 19k..

and i do a lot of my own work on cars.. so im not really worried about not having the extra HP.. ill probably end up putting a turbocharger on it.

dude we live in the year 2007, if you want a fast car it should be your second car. Not the car that you will be driving everyday, wasting a shitload of gas money and repairs are mch higher. The impreza is a perfect car. If You want a fast car buy a real sports car.
right now I have an 01 accord coupe with 150 hp on it as my daily driver. I have to fill the tank every 3 weeks. As my speedster I got an old school 88 rx-7 320hp, 2500lbs. whips every new cars ass on the straight and can compete with new porchse on the circuit. Yeh and 88 monte carlo's kick ass.

imo, the best value lies with Toyota. They had the best throttle response and power delivery (feel).

Agreed.  When I can, I'm getting another Supra.  A 1997 Special edition twin turbo one...6 speed manual, obviously, because anyone who drives an automatic sports car is a fucking tool in my book.

And yeah Banez, like he told you, don't buy a regular Impreza...it's a waste of money.  Get a WRX or don't get a subaru.

Or, if you have some extra money, buy me a Nissan 300zx.  Or a skyline, I'd be ok with that, too.  :smirk:

that sounds kinda dumb to me... i bought an 02 impreza wagon in the beginning of the fall; specifically didn't get the wrx they had because it only takes premium gas and costs quite a bit more, and while it looked all fancy with momo seats and gauges and shit, i want a car to live out of in the summer, not to race around in :ohwell:

Stick is pretty easy. I learned on the way home from the dealership... I bought a new car, spur of the moment on a 100 degree day because my old car had no AC... The only thing in my price range with good AC was a stick.

I said fuck it and putt-putted my way down Rt. 73... with glorious AC! :snowflake:

After taking a look at subarus website, i guess I was mistaken - i was under the impression that the WRX was the only impreza that had the 4WD and kick ass suspension, I didn't realize it came on the stock impreza as well

I guess I just like extra horsepower   But yeah, I know what you mean, I drive a corolla so right now for me it's all about point a to point b with low gas costs and not much maintenance required.

people arent buying domestics because GM is producing SHIT. The only thing they have that they put any effort into is the new Vette. Fine. If GM wants to become a specialty car company then have at it, but their cheaper cars are utter crap. They'll never compete with Toyota.

But to the threadstarter, you do know that you can get a base model mustang for around the same price as that impreza right?

or you could get something much cheaper, but get all of the options. Like a nissan sentra completely loaded.

the stock impreza is pretty loaded, really. i bought the outback sport (wagon that is a bit souped up, but not as performance heavy as the wrx) and it's been serving me well

I love how "performance" is such a huge factor... Are you RACING or DRIVING? Do you always feel the need to be going NOWHERE faster than everyone else?

How's the MPG? Because you will be filling your tank and spending REAL money more often than you'll be needing horsepower.

I'm not trying to be dickish, but you don't sound like you are all that "well off" financially and please don't go on about your $20,000 bonus. $20k isn't really that much at all... It will be LONG gone before you even get out of the army.

Why not look for the most affordable, fuel efficient and dependable car you can find... Instead of worrying about horsepower, or having any pre-concieved notions about one car being better than another. They are ALL the same thing, a way to get from point A to point B without walking.

Worry about things that really matter like comfortable AC, toasty heat, gas mileage and safety features.

:2cents:

and subaru's are extremely reliable.

and vinsue.. yeah it is a 9-5 job. ill have my own apartment off base.. i wont even be living on the military base.
