    #4475715 - 07/30/05 11:47 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

i was camping at the border of new jersey and pennsylvania earlier today and was astonished to see 3 bald eagles flying above. i was very surprised because i never knew they lived in this area.

Did you feel a surge of patriotism....? ....in your gonads?

It's been so long since I saw that.

Yes, they range pretty much over the whole continental US and parts of Canada (and probably into Mexico too). You'll see more of them these days as the effort to save them has been very successful....

It was probably a juvenile and two adults, I imagine. Male and female Baldies look pretty much the same. Majestic birds none the less! I've only seen them solo, never in a group, though....

i used to hike there all the time.  My late best friend went to E stroudsburg.  We used to night hike into kirkridge shelter all the time (on the PA side of the AT, bout a 5-6 mile hike from the trail head).  I miss it a lot, havent been there in a long ass time.

I grew up in the poconos.
I loved the Delaware Water Gap hiking trails.
I'd spend whole days in those woods.
There was a little warterfall part that we'd swim in as children.
