My first cakes all dead!! (pic)

This is a pic of one of my many cakes that always seem to get contaminated...the cakes are fully colonized and begin to pin before I see any signs of contam..that fucking green bastard mold always seems to foil my plans...and not only after he comes into town his inbred friend cobweb mold seems to work his way in. I believe that the contams are coming from when I fan the terrarium..I used a perlite humidified terrarium with a h202 mix...I fan 3 times a day and I spray the air HEAVILY with lysol before fanning...I am wondering if a self contained terrarium an air pump would aleviate this problem or if I should just shell out the money and buy a hepa air filter for the room..I dont really want to do that...I am just hoping its not my last resort

I don?t see any green mold at your cake. I only see a bunch of dwarfed pf shrooms nor yet fully grown as it seems.

Whoa.... Based on that pic, I'm a little puzzled as to how green mold could kill it! Is there any chance that your not cooking the jars long enough?

Green mold infestation is usually a sign of old cakes, or in your case not enough air exchange. Try upping the number of times you fan, and for how long you fan. Also sterilize every surface you will be using to grow (yes every) with a mild bleach solution. This will get rid of the spores that are still lingering in your terrarium, and perlite no doubt.

I'm PCing the jars long enough....I mean they are fully colonized when i take them out of the jars...smells like mushrooms its just after they enter the terrarium....it has to be coming from the perlite....the mold starts at the base of the cake..I only noticed it after I picked the cakes up and looked at the bottom...the thing that confuses me is that the perlite was treated with an h202 solution...i always assumed that peroxide killed spores and what not...I even mist the sides with h202 solution after fanning just to be safe

An idea, soak the perlite with mineral water and nuke the perlite in the microwave for 10 minutes before laying it down on the bottom of terrarium, then add some H2O2. Also try using an air bubbler for air inlet instead and quit fanning, keep terrarium closed. Peace, MAIA

note that hydrogen peroxide is reactive with light, so when you get to the pinning/fruiting stage and you're giving light, the h202 breaks down into h2o and o2. That's why the h2o2 comes in a brown bottle. so the peroxide won't be of any use after a while. pour more in at intervals (i really don't know how long this process takes... i've been going ever 5-7 days but i'm casing).
