if i mix water half and half with h202 will it kill contams on my cake or will it kill the mycelium. what wont h202 kill? what will it?

H2O2 in reasonable concentrations will not harm mycelium.
1:1 is way too strong, 1:10 or 1:20 is reasonable.

ya, you might want to mention the 1:10 ratio of h2o2 to water is for 3% h2o2 :smile:

I read somewhere that using h2o2 could be a concern in regards to it possibly being drawn up into the shrooms from the h2o2 treated water used with perlite if one goes that route (cakes on perlite in a terrarium) - any thoughts? I'd gotten the impression that if you use it, you should keep the cakes on their lids.

H2o2 dedrades pretty easeally when exposed to air, heat and light. That' is what you do when put your cakes inside the terrarium, so h2o2 is a only effective for a few days, perhaps a couple of weeks.
I allready had cakes sited directly on perlite with h2o2/h2o solution and had no problems fruiting them. I advice adding a piece of aluminum foil with some holes punched in it though, otherwise you might overlog your cakes.

a) H2O2 is not harmful to humans.
b) mushrooms have an enzyme (peroxidase) that breaks down peroxide.
