cobweb, myc & h2o2
    #4441807 - 07/23/05 05:52 AM (18 years, 7 months ago)

i have some cakes i just dunked and rolled. several days later i noticed they were growing white spots on the roll. i sprayed the cakes w/ h2o2 and alot of these spots vanished instantly. is that how cobweb reacts to h2o2 or did i kill of some myc? sorry for such a mundane question but i'm still learning much of this. i've also read salt is good for cobweb. do i just sprinkle it on the cakes or should i spray salt water? and this is a little off topic but check out what my contam /pig litter pile did last night. the white in the bottom right is myc.

Ok first I'm going to say that yea you killed some mold. I mean did it look like mold before? That's a pretty fast kill though but with peroxide some molds come right off so that could fit the picture. I've never heard of applying salt to a cake in anyway. I think of adding salt to a would and that it hurts you as much as it hurts the bacteria. eh well... I'd just stick with h2o2,
Take care

would mold come back after an h2o2 treatment? every day i check on it and these spots are back. i spray them and they go away. i come back a day later and they are there. i'd hate to lose this batch to bullshit mold, but i'd hate to ruin it being paranoid about cobweb. can peroxide kill myc?

Did you spray the whole Fruiting chamber or just the cakes?

I'd spray the whole FC and the cakes, make sure you spray everywhere...

And it might be in the middle of the cake, which would be a bitch....A h202 Dunk would get rid of that...

But it your cake has pins/primordia forming...I wouldn'y dunk...

Cobweb mold isn't a very serious mold...In terms of it being lethal and killing you.

As long as you don't see Black mold, you're good to go.

But cobweb may fuck up a great pinset....

That's my 2 cents.

gl man

Yes. So make sure that you use a diluded solution...3%

3parts h202 + 100parts h20 = 3% solution.

Using a 3% solution won't harm the myc. at all...

well 3parts h202 and 100 parts h20 wont give you 3% .... my h202 is 6% in the bottle so i have to do 50% h202 + 50% water ... food grade h202 is 35% so you do the maths

Now im not 100% sure on this but im 99%
