Shiitake time

I recently innoculated a bucked of around 15 dry pounds of hardwood sawdust with 5 pounds of shiitake grain spawn from www.mushroompeople.com ( Shiitake SX strain, if that helps.. ) There was also about 2-3 gallons of water added along with hydrogen peroxide ( i was using one of the rush wayne peroxide methods ). Around how long will colonization of it all take? According to stamets, to colonize 5 pounds takes 45-100+ days... and.. er.. with about 30 pounds of substrate in the bucket.. how long will it take to colonize that?

How is it going...My shiitakes never take so long. I would say 4-5 weeks if kept at a good temp. Is it just sawdust or does it have some bran or so.

mostly sawdust, but with a little bit of organic fertilizer

Maybe you need a new strain. I have two...I believe both came from stamets. One is an older commercial and the other is from plug spawn. I would help ya out with one if you wish.

Hm.. actually, after 2 weeks it seems that theyre doing pretty well. The areas within 1 inch of the grain i innoculated with seem to be colonized pretty well... i guess a couple more weeks for the bottom half to get colonized
