sterilization and incubation

homey the clown is attemping to grow with the pf-tek for the first time. hes really nervous about contamination. he has 12 1/2 pint ball jars, filter disks, sterile syrine, pressure cooker.....does anyone think he should use a glove box? would a dust mask and latex gloves be good too? hes got h202 alcohol and lysol too. for incubation he is debating putting the jars with filter disks in a perlite chamber, or just by themselves. hes kinda worried about the perlite mositure harvesting mold or something. any suggestions or comments from those of experiencewould be appreciated.

i wouldnt put them in the perlite chamber, could over saturate the cakes with the filter discs. a glove box is an excellent and cheap idea that is easy to make and will greatly cut down on contams. if not use the oven tek, with a dust mask, spray lotsa lysol, and wear the gloves. just be careful around the oven with the lysol and rubbing alchol. i once spilled hlaf a bottle when i was innoculating almost in the oven and it skared the shit outta me.

would it make sense to put more water in the substrate since id be using filter discs without perlite incubation? or would that be asking for trouble?

Don't mess with the substrate formula. When using the filter disks, you need to incubate in a humid environment. Perlite is fine.
