new to poo

ive been using the rye jar technique an i haevnt had much success so im thinking of switching to using poo....ive read all sorts of poo faqs etc but im still kinda confused on some parts...can i just use cow manure from the store mix it with that store bought compost for your garden an then pasturize it in my oven? or do i havta go an find some not so fresh horse turds lying around? theres a race track close to my house so that shouldnt be a problem, but goin to the store is just so much more realistic for me right now

and do i have to use straw too? man these sound like pretty dumb questions..maybe im just not looking hard enough :tongue:

Go with the stuff you pick up yourself. Get it properly aged. I don't add straw, I add about 20% verm. Store bought stuff veries to much and you never know what you might wind up with.

poo straw and verm mix is the way to go, pasteurized of course. and yes always get shit from a racetrack especially if you have acess to one, will make a big difference. If it's fresh you can leave it out to dry (leach) which is important to do, so find and use dried if possible to expedite process.

I don't age it myself,lol. My supply lives next store. I let it get rained on twice and get it after it dries.

whew now im excited :laugh:

...so after i pasturize my poo i can just mix my rye substrate in it, then case it with coir/verm mix?

Let it cool first, then mix your spawn and let it colonize, then case it.

Hey I'm new to poo too, I've got a strange idea for a tek. A mix of poo and vermiculite for substrate and pack it like a pf jar. Has anyone information on just using poo and vermiculite?
