Mental disorders affecting trips.

I suffer from depression and social phobia and was thinking about trying some shrooms. Do you guys think I will experience a bad trip due to my mental problems. I am worried that I will because my brain must be fucked up due to my mental illnesses.
What do you reckon?

Probly not a good idea. maybe try a lower dose, see how it goes. if youve got social phobias, best not try them with others.

well think of it this way, often shrooms bring out what's happening in life, and imagine a whole trip about what you are depressed about, but magnified. even simple things can seem like a big deal, but big deals are just too much to handle...wait until you are happy

I used to have the same problems as you, and the first time I took shrooms it really loosened me up. Ever since I've felt shrooms were in some part responsible for my positive change in attitude about people and life. However, just because it was good for me, doesn't means it'll be good for you.

Try them at your own risk. If you are going to do them, do them with a few intimate friends, and during a period where you've been happy for a while, and nothing overly disturbing, depressing, annoying, scary is happening in your life. I have the same problems you do, but have found I can take mushrooms as long as I'm careful with when and where I do them. Also, sometimes, if I'm in the right mindstate, they help my depression...but that's extremely rare. Normally they just intensify your current emotions.
Remember, if you do have some negative mental aspects, and are thinking of taking mushrooms, if someone offers you them and you have second thoughts, DON'T TAKE THEM. Even if it's just a tiny nagging in the back of your head, sometimes those are the most dangerous. Wait until you are completely relaxed, and without a doubt in your mind ready. That's pretty much all I can say. It's all up to you, and your inner personality.

Thanks for the advice guys. I am just really worried that I might commit suicide or something if I take them when depressed. hehe

If you're contemplating suicide while sober, then you'd probably be at more risk of committing suicide while under the influence. If you're not contemplating suicide but are (clinically) depressed, or often in a sad mood, you might find the trip really lifts you for a few weeks, or you might feel worse.
If you decide to trip, really think about what you would need to avoid, to confront, and what you could use to lift yourself. If you find that you have trouble doing that while sober these days, you may want to avoid the psychedelics until you feel better. There's not really any way to predict your reaction, though...

i wouldnt recomend it. i usually dose really high (3.5 grams-1/3 oz) and sometimes suicide depression and uncontrolable phobias come up. some eventually leave, and some get stuck in my thoughts. i believe most of this was caused though since i used to be an acid head (know-it-all) to a stoner (doing lots of weird things that only make sense to you and those around you) and then to a shroom grower (science genius, and bake-head) and now back to a stoner!!!! thats quite a bit a shit that happened over a 1 1/2 year period. right now im kinda going back to the acid way of life and trying to get over how "out of it" and dumb i became when i shroomed alot. my advice would be to dose low, ignore any bad thoughts and get rid of them as soon as possible (you prolly know that since youre depression) and treat them like they are a mind altering substance, since thats all they are!!!!

I think after the (possibly bad) experience you'll have probably TOO much to deal with if you're already depressed now, this is a big risk on the other hand the experience might cheer you up and you'll have a better feeling towards life ... I'd say for your own mental health don't try 'em unless you feel comfortable in your life

Don't take them... if you are worried about anything regarding your well being don't even take the chance
you have to go into them clear minded....
anything you have in the back of your mind will come out to haunt you...whether you let it get to you is up to you
i wouldn't chance it though

I wouldn't recomend then with those disorders. The might help the socail phobia, but could make the depression a lot worse, especailly in the after effects. Although many people don't get the depressed feeling after they trip you might be more at risk. Plus if your taking MAOI's for your depression they tend to intensify your trip. But trying mush and X in small doses could be beneficial to you and maybe help you figure out why you have these problems.

That is bullshit dude
e makes you want to jump off a cliff when you come down
I don't recomend e
and there is no way to know that is the problem they way you will react to psychedelics is not really predictable
you can either feel free and the social phobies won't bother you or you can get paranoid and wig out.. if you let yourself you tend to think people are thinking things and they are looking at you... your mind can do crazy shit
Don't do anything... dig into your own mind you don't need drugs for that... its much better to be aware of the things that bother you or effect you first....
Seriously it's no good... please don't do it at this point
let yourself bleed and heal and do it sober....don't use drugs to do it
Just trust me

If you do decide to take them, then I highly recommend a sitter. Someone you trust just to watch out for you. If you know they are watching over you then you won't have to worry about hurting yourself, ect.
